RP: A rare day off; multiple owls Who: Draco, anyone who might be at/stop by the Manor (feel free to drop into the thread); letters to: the Notts, Cam, the Pucey-Davis', Daphne, Scorpius, Marcus Flint, anyone of 'like mind' who might be invited to such a dinner Where: Malfoy Manor When: September 27th, 2024 Rating/Warnings: Summary: Draco is at the Manor for the day; sends some owls and makes some plans
Draco hadn't bothered with his muggle clothes for once. It felt wonderful to simply be in robes, barefooted, sitting in the den on the main floor with some back paperwork to catch up on. Going through a report from his American counterpart on the opening of the magical school in Salem, he smiled softly and longed for the days of easy term beginnings. The security had been upped in the USA but nothing like what his wife was dealing with at Hogwarts, and he penned a note congratulating his counterpart on a smooth job. The Americans were only peripherally worried about the Dark Lord Himself returning, however, and that concerned Draco greatly.
Thoughts of school work lead him to thoughts of his wife, who was handling everything with immense poise and grace under pressure - she was a Malfoy woman, after all - and his soft smile took on a wider quality. Picking up another report he realized quickly that his thoughts had moved on completely from work and he took out a fresh parchment to make a list. He wanted to do something for Astoria; show his appreciation and admiration for all she had been through. Perhaps give her a night on the town, a simple affair to take her mind off of things. Or maybe flowers, surprising her at work.
No, he thought, both too mundane. Too normal. Not nearly up to Malfoy standards. Perhaps he should gather the thoughts of others? No. Word would get back to her if the Pucey-Davis' or Pansy were involved. Perhaps a loved ones dinner, organized entirely by himself? Surely she would appreciate lit candles, like-minds, and an evening to forget issues about people returning from the dead and rogue werewolves terrorizing the suburbs. Yes, this seemed like just what was needed. Scorpius would be there, absolutely, and Adrian and Tracey in whatever form they may be currently considering themselves. Astoria's sister, the Notts, perhaps he'd even see if Campbell could tear himself away from his wreck of a daughter for a night. He would make sure his mother and father were busy for the night of the dinner, so that there would be no stress at all for his wife. At the end of dinner, he'd offer her an intimate night of just the two of them, no work talk, no floo calls for him from all points of the world. No one would mention the Dark Lord, no one would worry about the Prophet the next day. It would be very much like life before this summer, before broken magic and dead headmasters.
Setting away immediately he took out a stack of parchment and wrote letters inviting the others and then planned to tell Astoria himself.
Dear friends, I am planning an evening of un-reality, if you will. Decadent foods, flowing wine, absolutely no mention of work, and a great amount of appreciation for my dearest Astoria. I would like you to join us at the Manor. Details shall be forthcoming. Please let me know when might be convenient for you and whomever you may enjoy as a date. However, please keep the company conservative. The goal is a stress free night for us all, Salazar knows we could all use it. Draco
My Son, I am planning an evening of relaxation and stimulating conversation for your mother and our closest friends. I would request your presence, of course. Details will be forthcoming. I'm at the Ministry most of this week, if your training permits I'd like to see you for lunch to catch up, it's been too long. Your Father
