Jake didn't argue with Regulus, for he agreed with the man. The Black family that had been large and influential in the past was non-existent, save for the women who had already married outside of the family. "It will take time, but with some careful planning I'm sure you can arrange to carry on the Black family." Jake was secretly glad that he had no such obligation.
Rubbing the end of his nose, Jake cleared his throat. "The reason I ask is that Flint is holding a surprise birthday soiree of sorts for my cousin Patrick. It would be nice to have someone there with me to talk to, if you are interested in attending with me. I'll understand if it's too soon. That crowd won't be sophisticated as the one that was there tonight."
