"He might not be allowed but that wouldn't make it untrue if he were. You can't stop a person from feeling how they feel, even if they're raised to hide it. You still feel how you do, yes?" Jake looked at Regulus, asking quietly even with a glance.
"You might marry and even have children, but you can't hide what's truly inside you. It will always be there."
Jake looked away, then took another drag on his cigarette before stubbing it out in the ashtray. "I don't doubt my parents would have already made such arrangements if my father wasn't dead and my mother lucid."
