"Okay, a little strong, but Dad...it doesn't work that way. Not always. Let's say you have five kids in a bedroom, or year. Right? Human nature is to pair off two by two, so one kid is going to get left out, or be the afterthought. And what about kids who are eleven but aren't ready emotionally to be away from home. It's an arbritrary age and doesn't take in emotional maturity or other factors that might mitigate how well a kid adjusts or fits in."
"I'm not saying I don't have a good time at school and it's not one of the best Magical schools anywhere, but just because it's tradition that you start at eleven and live away from home doesn't mean that tradition doesn't need to be looked at and evaluated for whether or not it applies ot the age we live in. Keeping traditions because they work is one thing, keeping them simply because it's the status quo is choosing to be willfully blind and stubborn."
God, she loved this, even if she wasn't sure she meant half of it. It was fun to put it out there and let fly. Especially since her Dad would listen and actually consider what she said. How many other parents would let their daughter challenge their way of life, much less encourage it? Not many, she thought and she knew she was lucky.
"Isn't that what got people to join him the last time, wanting to keep 'pureblood' traditions unsullied?"
