Regulus paid close attention to what was being said. Jake was very precise with his words, something that Regulus appreciated. "I appreciate your candour, something else that doesn't come naturally to me. We... we rarely discussed sex, and certainly not with other men. You discussed marriage or made vague, somewhat childish comments while still in school, but that's pretty much the extent of it, at least in families like mine." He smiled a little. "I admit that I was very free with my comments when I arrived at St. Mungo's. I probably should have apologised to you for such behaviour a lot sooner, but no one seemed to think there was anything wrong. I thought that it was because of my medical state, but I'm discovering that there are other reasons."
He snorted. "Oh, I have no intention of changing the way I think. However, I'll have to consider the way the rest of the world thinks when I make plans."
Regulus moved closer and smoothed his palms over Jake's shoulders and down his arms, looking at the man's reflection in the mirror. "You look like you belong in robes," he said calmly, "but that is the scariest thing I've ever heard in my life, and I've heard plenty of scary things." He knew that the Dark Lord would have brought about the distraction of their world, and he had accomplished just that by pitting pureblood families against each other. "It's scary and saddening."
