He hated seeing her upset like that. Shaking his head, he rushed over to her, not caring that her wand was still in her hand, and held her face in his hands, forcing her to look up at him. "Listen to me," he said. "I would never do anything like that to a child, much less a whole family. That wasn't me. I had nothing to do with what happened to those people."
He dropped his hands then and took a short step back. "I'm sorry," he said. "It's just so hard to explain. . . what happens during the moon."
