Tears streaming down her face, Angie sank down in her office chair and covered her face in her hands. A boy was dead. And innocent first year had been murdered right on school grounds, and she was terrified.
Angie had ended up having to stay later than normal that day, finishing up her talk with her son and catching up on some extra work. By the time she realized what time it was, it was nearly dinner, so she sent an owl home to George and decided to have dinner in the Great Hall with the students that night.
Then it had happened. She couldn't remember much, just a lot of chaos and her trying to find her children in the mass of students. After making sure Alex and Roxie were okay, she helped the Prefects and the other teachers get everyone else inside before retreating to her office. There she could let her calm exterior melt away, and be overcome by the emotions that were gripping at her.
She wouldn't be going home tonight. No one could get in or out, save for the Aurors. She was going to have to spend her first night in her sleeping area. She'd planned on spending that first night with her husband, making some wonderful memories, but that would have to wait. So she quickly summoned a school owl and pulled a sheet of parchment and a quill.
George,
I'm not going to be able to come home tonight. Something terrible has happened. A student. . . a first year, has been murdered. I don't know more than that, but it's awful. What if it had been Alex or Roxie? That's all I can think about.
No one's allowed in or out for now, but I'm sure that will change by morning. I've got clothes here, so don't worry about me, but I would really like to see you. I've got a free period first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon. Please say you'll come.
I'm scared, George. I'm more afraid than I've ever been in my life. Hogwarts has been the safe place for so many years, and now this? I've got a bad feeling about all of this. Like something's happening again. Something really bad.
I love you more than anything,
Angie
Ashamed of the tears that had fallen all over the parchment, she rolled it up and handed it off to the owl. Make sure he gets that," she said, before sending it out her small window, hoping her husband received it soon.
