"Oh I have no doubt. The first month is always the toughest and if you stick that out, it's a bloody good sign," Jake observed.
"I'm just saying that you're going to receive a lot of criticism and some of it will seem personal - but it's not. They're going to test you every way they can think how to try and break you down. If you really want this, don't let them."
He then snorted. "Some of the old fuckers I think enjoy it because they refuse to retire as they don't know what to do with their lives if they did. So they make our lives hell because we're younger."
Jake nodded, then shrugged. "There are those who will tell you that it will, but I think they're full of shite. No one wants to lose a patient. It fucks with your ego. And that's what this job's all about - ego."
He chuckled, tossing the towel over his shoulder and then in a swift motion stripped off his boxer shorts and balled them up in his hand.
"I usually do regret it when I'm being nice to others. But, the offer stands - Lorcan." Jake tossed the balled up boxers towards his end of the bend where the rest of his stuff was and then turned around to where the few shower stalls were.
"See you on the floor," he called over his shoulder, his bare arse free to the eyes as he walked away.
