It was a little less than a month after Eve found her father’s body lying in her parent’s living room floor. The sight still haunted Eve in her dreams and finally Eve got to the point where she avoided sleep as much as possible. However recently she was able to get a few nights rest, her body finally told her mind it was enough and it needed rest though her sleeps were dreamless but Eve preferred it that way. It was much better then waking up every night from seeing that last horrible look on her father’s face, the look of pure terror. Eve just wanted to know what it was that struck so much fear into him. It didn’t take much to scare her father when it came to magic. Her family always passed down stories of evil creatures, mostly putting most emphasis on demons.
Eve had spent the last few since her father’s death helping her mom clean out the house. Eve’s mother didn’t want to live there anymore and Eve didn’t blame her. After having such a tragic event happen there, it would be hard to wake up every morning and sitting in the same room where the deed had happened. It was bad enough for Eve to go there to help her clean out the house. There were so many memories in that place and almost all of them involved her father. At least Eve was able to think of her father without fully losing it like before but the thought of him no longer being there still pained her. Just when she thought things couldn’t get any worse for her family, Eve received a phone call.
“Hello?” Eve answered the phone wondering why the police was calling her. She knew things couldn’t be good but maybe it had something to do with her father. However Zoryana was on that case and it wasn’t her number. Eve had no idea what they wanted now.
“This is Officer Smith calling about an accident that happened involving a Natalie and Andy Walshburg.” He replied sounding as business like as possible but Eve could tell in his voice that he was about to deliver some dire news about her aunt and uncle.
“What happened? Is everything okay?” Eve asked in a worried voice. Her stomach felt like it fell out of her body. Her breath lessened as she listened to everything the Officer had to say.
“There was a bad car accident involving the couple. They were found on Founder’s Road with their car wrapped around a tree. There were no survivors.”
Eve had to stop herself from dropping the phone. She lost all of her senses once again, just how things were a month earlier with her father. However this time it seemed like an accident, the officer said about how they hit a tree at a fast speed and there were no chances of anyone surviving it. At least it wasn’t a long and painful death so it seemed for her father. However losing more family members in such a close time period was still a great pain to Eve. Her aunt and uncle lived in New York, a drive away but they still kept in touch. Eve just quickly thought of her younger cousins and what would happen to them. The Officer gave her the number to get ahold of her cousins Andy Jr. and Jacob Walshburg. Andy was 18 and probably would be able to stay with Eve if he needed to but Jacob was only 14 and Eve had no idea what would happen to him. She didn’t know if she could take them both in if they didn’t have anywhere else to go. Eve definitely didn’t want them to be separated from the rest of the family.
Eve thanked the Officer for the information even though she regretted hearing it all. She composed herself long enough until she said her goodbye and finally broke down again. Fresh tears littered her face as more grief overcame her. All that was left in the Summer’s family bloodline was her and her two cousins. A bad feeling overcame Eve at this thought; she couldn’t make sense of anything. Why were so many bad things happening right now just to her family? Her father’s death was an obvious murder but her aunt and uncle seemed like an accident. She would have to get in contact with her cousins right away; she needed to be sure they would be safe. However there was only so much she could do.
Eve tried the number the officer gave to her. She got ahold of someone and quickly found out that her cousins were both being given to her mother. Eve sighed a little, glad that they would be able to stay close together which at the moment seemed like the best option.
