Woman to Woman
Date: Monday, Dec 13, 2013
Time: 8:00 PM
Location: Eleanor's Office
Characters: Eleanor Nichols | Sofia De Leon
Description: First Guillaume, then Sofia. People appear to be worried about Eleanor's mindset.
Status: Closed | In Progress

To say that it had been a trying time in the lives of the vampires would be an understatement. The Queen was exhausted from trying to keep up appearances. Exhausted from trying to look like she was still the stone that had crumbled under Guillaume's words. Exhausted from everything.

She'd been relying on Rafael more and more lately, which didn't seem to bother him much but it bothered her. As Queen, even if only in name at the moment, she needed to be able to rely on herself, not just her progeny. Not just her nest. Her people had to be able to rely on her and she knew she'd made them fear her instead. It was something she needed to fix somehow, but she wasn't sure how to stop until she got to the cause of all this.

Until she got to Valerian and his nest.

As it was, this evening she was too tired to go out and "hunt". She wanted, instead, to simply spend time at home tonight in the solace that her violin gave her. The dulcet tones that always seemed to calm her when nothing else could. But, as she neared her office, she found that was not to be the case this night.

It figured really. It was only a matter of time before Guillaume's new partner in crime tracked her down to talk to her. They'd been friends before and suddenly she'd withdrawn and started calling her by her full name. Or by her title in the army as she'd done Guillaume during their conversation. Even though Guillaume had amended his earlier motives in letting her believe the pair were sleeping together, had pretty adamantly denied it in fact, there was still that hurt that she was closer to him now than Eleanor herself was.

"Well, I was wondering when you would show up. You took longer than expected. I'm impressed at your ability to reign yourself in. Or did Guillaume send you to try to talk some sense into me again?" She wouldn't let on that their fight had actually worked. That she'd been killing less and less, even as she was lost on how to go about a new route that would lead her directly to Valerian and his kin.

Settling into her favorite chair, the Queen crossed her ankles and folded her hands in her lap as she looked at the young woman that Guillaume had brought to her so many years ago. "So, what can I do for you, Sofia?"

At first Fia hadn’t wanted to be apart of this. When Guillaume had come to her after such a long time apart, she had instantly rejected his offer. Fia was not one to fight in wars, and even though Guillaume had taught her everything he knew she was still reluctant. She had seen wars destruction far too many times, and every time it was harder to bear.

“You haven’t been around for how many years, and your first request is to protect that of Eleanor?” She scoffed, already walking away from him before he implored her. She had known their story, and when he pulled at her hidden heartstrings she turned to him again. Surely she would ask any progeny she would ever create to help protect Guillaume, and even if she didn’t want to, she understood his plea. It took some convincing for the Cuban to leave Paris but she bid the beautiful city farewell with Guillaume’s best interests at heart.

The last few weeks had been exhausting, the tension in the house had began to escalate and it was all too obvious that Eleanor was losing her humanity. Guillaume had openly expressed his worry to Fia, telling her stories of those of their kind who had lost their souls, and she could see the horror in his expression. She was sure that if they weren’t able to bring Eleanor back to what she was, she would be lost forever.

So there she was, leaning back in a plush chair in Eleanor’s desk when she heart her making her way down the hall. The woman hadn’t been there very long, she had become accustomed to Eleanor’s schedule and knew when she might be able to find her. When the Queen entered Fia spun in her chair, facing her.

At her words Fia’s face twisted into a disgusted expression. She didn’t appreciate the formal use of her name, and she immediately responded.

“Don’t call me that Eleanor. You know it’s not my name,” She would prefer Lieutenant over that. Guillaume was the only one who had met Sofia, and the only one who she permitted to use it.

“But no.” Forcing herself to relax as her ice blues met the Queens own hazel gaze. “Guillaume didn’t send me. If you haven’t forgotten we used to be friends till very recently.” Said in the most matter-o-factly tone.

“You do well to forget that even though you wish to turn that heart to stone, I’m well aware of the love it harbors.” Brow raising slightly. “So now, come off of it and tell me what’s bothering you.”

"You'd do well to remember that, while we were friends, I'm also your Queen. Respect is warranted, even if you did invite yourself into my private room and await for me to come in unaware." Yeah right, like Eleanor would ever be unaware in her own home. She knew Fia was occupying her office, even if she hadn't been invited. And she'd been prepared to deal with it.

She did listen to the woman's words, however. And while Fia was right and she and Eleanor were friends, the Queen had been doing all she could in order to harden her heart and deal with the mutiny at hand. Deal with the fact that she'd been under the impression that she was losing the only man she'd loved to this woman in front of her. This vampire that seemed familiar in a way that she couldn't quite place. That she couldn't put her finger on. That feeling alone made the oldest living vampire unnerved.

Eleanor hated being unnerved.

"I haven't forgotten. We were friends. The things that are happening have put me in a... delicate state." Delicate was a nice term for it. She was steadily giving in to the demon inside of her, letting the rage take over bit by bit.

Guillaume had managed to bring out the emotion in her during their last argument, but Lord only knew what would happen should he do it again. She was trying to very hard to deal with this that it was slowly chipping away at her entire being.

"It doesn't matter about the love it harbors. The love isn't returned. I don't have time for the feelings that come with that right now. I have to figure out a way to save my species and deal with the little bats that are trying to destroy us."
