Date: December 5th, 2014
Time: 8:00pm
Location: Abrams Family Lighthouse
Characters: Alvaro Hernandez-Abrams, Isabelle Parker
Description: Date night...
Status: Private, in progress.

His nerves had been at an all time high. It had been so long, since Isabelle had come down to the lighthouse. The lighthouse was an Abram's family staple since the late 1800s. The Abrams family were Cresent Cove's main source of seafood produce and as they entered the early 1900s, they served as the socialites of the town. To say he'd grown up in the hype, too well was an understatement. Alvaro had informed his mother the lighthouse would be off limits. In it's current state, it served as the families shore side home. Over looking the water, it was his favorite view. Nothing Isabelle hadn't seen before, until the renovations had been done. It was to serve as Alvaro's private apartment, when he originally returned home from Mexico.

His mother, took her time creating an atmosphere, covering the first level, the living room and foyer, with family pictures. It was warming, inviting, the opposite of Alvaro's nature toward most people that approached him or engaged him in conversation. The second level was another living room, much smaller, but met with the dining room and kitchen. The upper most portion was his bedroom. Isabelle knew the residence well and would know to follow the path of magnolia petals from the stone ridden walk way to the front door. He left it unlocked. The floral path would continue up the stairs to where dinner had been prepared.

The son of a pastry chef, it was no secret Alvaro could cook. He'd prepared a seven course meal, all with her favorites. He was extravagant, his displays of affection were extravagant, she should have expected nothing less...

There were a lot of different sides to Isabelle. Although she grew up rich she would never request or expect anyone to treat her like a queen. In fact, she made enough to wine and fine herself. When she had been with Cruz it was clear she was the breadwinner in the relationship and Cruz was not one for huge overly romantic gestures. But now that things with Alvaro were picking up, Belle was starting to remember why she liked super romantic men.

It had been ages since Isabelle had gone to the Abram's lighthouse. Upon getting closer to the familiar building she felt overwhelmingly nostalgic. She missed Al, she missed him and his family and his baking and cooking and everything. She had been so nervous, do tentative with Al since he forgave her that she hadn't been letting herself feel much. She focused on his emotions and reactions and with all the other stresses going on, she just hadn't tuned in to herself. Now, standing in front of the lighthouse, she was overcome with the feelings of love and appreciation she had for Al.

The door was unlocked for her of course, and she entered without hesitation, following not only the flower petals but the feeling of Al all through the place. When she got upstairs, her breath left her. After a moment she managed to smile and finally speak. "Al, this is just... Absolutely amazing."

From the moment her mind began to race he could feel her presence near. A bond so close, so connected, he could hear her happy thoughts. With such clarity, it made him laugh softly. He wouldn't tell her he'd done this all to impress her, that was obvious. What he would tell her, is that the clear weather was hours of preparation and a calming spell, to relax not only the waves and the cool jet stream, but also anything within the parameters of the property. For Belle, nothing was ever enough. Alvaro, enjoyed spoiling her with the things she liked most, comfort and security. He was never going to be a movie star or a model, but he would always be by her side.

When the door opened, she would be literally overwhelmed with the scents of the season. From the fresh flowers he posted around the layout of the light house, to the scented candles, and of course the food he'd taken his time to create. No magic was utilized on the creation of his food. Varo, took very few short cuts when his heart was involved in something. Glancing up as he placed the last item on the table, he offered her a smile. "Is it?"

He questioned her impression of the situation. "Most of this, fails in comparison to you." Sticking his tongue out, he left the table to approach her. His gestures had always been grand in scale. Like when he discovered he could literally make it rain. And gave her, her first kiss in the rain. Taking her in, with his eyes, his hands embraced her in a close hug. Proceeded by a kiss on the forehead. "I'm glad you came."

She could definitely smell how beautifully everything was scented - and though it was clear they were scents of the season, plus the beautiful smell of food, none of it was overwhelming. It was a nice thing to consistently breathe in without feeling as if she were suffocating under everything else. Alvaro always had such a good touch with things like this. He just knew exactly what to do, and exactly what she liked.

His thoughts were unknown to her, but his emotions swirled around her in the most familiar way. It was like feeling another part of herself, one that had been missing for so long. The connection between them was strong from being members of the same Circle, but stronger for the bond they had forged between themselves over the many years the two had known each other.

"It is amazing." She said, blushing when he turned the compliment back on her. Taking off her coat to reveal the outfit she had meticulously put together for the night, she set it on one of the provided coat hangers, only to turn back around and be embraced by Al in a close hug, her eyes closing at the kiss to her forehead. "Me too." She responded, her voice barely a whisper.

"I've missed you." She confessed, though he would have known that already. Her thoughts, feelings, everything in her had missed this closeness, not just the friendship she had thought she had lost, but everything about Al and everything they shared.

There was something about the rush of feeling he got when she was near. Isabelle could make her worst day fade away if he simply allowed her to. Varo had been accepting the positivity of life, moment by moment, believing that one day, he would be free from any resentment he caused himself. With her in his arms, Alvaro knew he could take on the entire world and never worry about failing. Isabelle gave him wings, to soar high above mountains and to conquer any obstacle that may choose to stand in his way.

"I missed you too, amor." He said softly, pulling back just enough to look her in the eyes. "But you no longer have to miss me. Soy, here." His blend of English and Spanish was cute, when he wasn't angry or frustrated. Those feelings never seemed to surface with her anymore. Just happiness. "I made your favorites. They may not be perfect, however, I also made sangria...watered down with my fruit juice than wine." She was a lightweight and getting her wasted wasn't apart of the plan.

"I know it was chilly outside, but I have the heat on. If it isn't warm enough, let me know." Toying with the weather is something Alvaro used to take lightly, when his frame of mind was...jaded. However now, he had returned to his supreme respect for Mother Nature and her choice of weather effects. Easing back further, he met Belle's eyes with his own.

"Whatever we may come to be, I will be by your side."

Although Isabelle was known for her toying with people's emotions - usually to make them happier when she was around, she didn't do that with Alvaro. When they were younger, she had often helped calm him down, or gently persuaded his emotions to be more positive than not. When they had first starting to see each other again, she didn't dare try and force him to like her again. Isabelle would never want it to be fake, so she had stayed far from making him feel things that weren't naturally. But she was very in-tune to his every emotional shift, and when she felt things start to lift it made her own heart soar with joy. Now, she felt how he did when she was around, and she couldn't imagine being any happier.

Their gaze met, and she didn't look away. It was like looking into another part of herself, and she met his glances with equal passion behind them. "Good. I don't want to have to miss you again." Implied in there was a not ever again. It had absolutely crushed her when he had disappeared, and any of the other members of their circle could attest to that. The emotional rages and depression she had caused them all were not something they were likely to forget so easily. "I'm sure they are perfect, Al." She said with a smile, knowing that they were her favorites mostly because he made them for her.

"It's warm enough." She responded. Her shirt was thin and only 3/4 sleeves, which was perfect for slight warmth outside and being cool enough in a warmer house. He eased back a little, and she caught his arm with her hand, letting her fingers slide down until they entwined with him. "Good. That's right where I want you." She said, a wry smile coming to her lips as she thought among other places.

Like the seasons change through the year, he grew to love her more and more. Absence had a nasty habit of making the heart grow colder, but his was red hot. Despite their issues in the past, this was a new season. He hoped for better and brighter things to befall the both of them. Alvaro, was not one to simply forget the past, but he marked accounts in hopes to learn from the past. The future was shaped by past events, by present events. He never altered what he knew to be true, he simply acted as he would. Unlike the conventional theory of one future, he was privy to billions upon billions of futures. Deciphering which was true or a possibility was an endless task he burdened himself with. Due to his nature and intuition he usual pieced together the right choice....with Isabelle, he never looked. He used to, but he stopped. Preparing for the future ruined their present. Now? He would just live in the moment.

Walking her over to the table he pulled out her chair for her. Once she sat, he would unveil the first course. Simple, nothing to kill her stomach. A simple glazed peach atop a hand breaded square cut of chicken. Fried in a southern beer batter. It sat surrounded by a swarm of miniature mashed potato puffs. Over it was a light brown gravy. Alvaro had learn southern comfort from his mother like no other.

He poured her glass, situated her plate, and then sat beside her. "I'll wait for you to dig in and tell me how it tastes."

It was unfortunate for Isabelle that she had never truly understood how difficult seeing the future had been for Alvaro. She could feel his pain and frustration, confusion and all that, but she could only sympathize with him, not truly understand what he was going through. Now that she had some minor ability to see the future in small clips, little images of things to come, she understood it a lot better. She had thought often on how insane it must have been to see them in all their various forms, all of their futures at once. There were many times she shuddered at how it must have felt to envision futures of them where they didn't speak anymore, and never reconciled.

He walked her to the table and she sat in the seat he offered for her, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the food. Al always knew just what to make her, and she smiled up at him in such a way that it conveyed all the love and appreciation she had for him and the things he had and would do for her. "This is perfect." She said, possibly for the fourth or fifth time since she came in.

Taking the first bite, her face melted into a satisfied smile, and she savored the first taste of the food he had prepared for her. "Its delicious, as always. You have to teach me how to do this. All I can make is like, spaghetti and instant mashed potatoes." Or micro-wave things. Not that she ate a lot when she wasn't with other people. "I recently learned how to sautee mushrooms without burning them." She added with a silly smirk, taking a sip of the sangria. "Ohh, this is good. I honestly can't think of a more perfect night, Al."

Perfection wasn't his aim, but he was glad he'd made it there. Alvaro never voiced his struggles. He tried to keep a tight lid on everything that bothered him. He hated to burden others with his own personal struggles. It was a wonder how he ever managed to get through anything. He kept his pain a secret, but nothing was secret to Isabelle. In that respect, knowing he had no choice but to be open and honest with her, he fell in love with her. Sometimes not having to tell someone your hurting, in order for them to know, is enough.

When he heard her rave about the meal, he couldn't resist the urge to blush a bit. He took pride in what he did. Learning to cook in the Abrams home was a tradition, a rite of passage. The addition of the Hernandez traditions only expanded his culinary abilities. The way she looked at him, made his heart skip a beat. It had been so long sense he'd felt like this for anyone...her included. Open, free spirited.

"I could show you." He blurted out, watching her eat. The fact she didn't eat, bothered him. So there was always food when they met. He'd never force her, but would try to encourage her. Himself? He ate his feelings too often. "Yeah, maybe if you...no that's forward. Uh...you know, one morning we can start with breakfast and ...you know." Befuddled by his own overthinking, he couldn't help the fact she tripped him up.

Alvaro's complicated emotions had been why she was initially drawn to him. While others were so shallow or vapid, easy to read and easy to figure out when they were younger, Al had always been a bit of a puzzle. She had fallen for him quite easily, and those feelings had never really ceased. Even if they had been buried, hidden, or obscured by other feelings, they had always been there.

The blush that rose to Al's cheeks made her smile - she could feel his slight embarrassment before she had seen the blush, but it made his beautiful face even more appealing. While Isabelle would never regret the time she had spent with Cruz, their brief but intense romance had been needed at the time, she was also overwhelmingly glad to be with Al again. As tentative as it had started, as tumultuous as their reunion had been - it was worth it to be here with him now.

"That would be great!" She replied, completely enthusiastic about the idea of cooking lessons with Al. Not only to learn how to cook, but to spend more time with him. She was overcome with a flurry of thoughts of them together in the kitchen, cooking... among other things. She blushed to herself and continued to eat, when he seemed to fumble over his words and get tripped up. She rose a brow at him, head canted to the side slightly.

"What would be too forward?" Asked, a slight smirk forming on her lips. "Breakfast is my favorite meal... aside from dessert."

That wasn't supposed to happen. The blending of his thoughts and his words. Usual Alvaro was more eloquent with his words. This wasn't supposed to happen. Ok, breath, Al. Think, don't lie...shit you can't lie. He just stopped his thoughts and turned to look at her nudging her some. "I was going to suggest you stay the night. But, feared it would be entirely too forward. You're not my girlfriend, I'm not your boyfriend...and I don't want you thinking I'm looking for one thing."

Completely ignoring the fact she could feel his thoughts. He was smitten with his own love for her, that he'd forgotten that obvious fact. Sighing, he went back to eating praying the awkward moment would just pass all on it's own. God, if the others could see him now, they'd know just who sensitive he really was on the outside.

"I still have a few more courses to get through, so don't get too full."

Isabelle found it rather endearing and cute when he got all embarrassed and flustered like that. It was so unlike the Al she saw around other people, and so much more like the Al she knew, the one only she did. It felt amazing to see him like this and feel him this way. "I know you aren't only after one thing, Al." She said, reaching her hand over to touch his knee softly, her smile honest. "I want to stay." She admitted, and her thoughts certainly went in the direction of i want to be your girlfriend, too though it wasn't something she was sure she wanted to say out loud, yet. She didn't know if either of them were ready for that yet. She might be, but she had no idea if he was.

Of course, she could feel how he felt - she knew exactly what she meant to him and he meant the same to her. But she wasn't going to voice that, because one didn't always do what your heart was telling you to. Alvaro's struggles between his heart and mind were his own.

"I wont eat it all, then, because you know I get full really quickly."

His ears perked up and the moment was instantly replayed in his mind. Did she just agree to stay? Now he was wondering if his room looked appropriate. If he had cleaned the extra comforter so he could sleep on the couch. Stopping, he went back to their meal and nodded his head. "Ok, then let's move on to the second course." Grinning, he leaned over and pressed a kiss on her forehead once more. Getting up, he collected their plates and ran off into the kitchen. There was a lot of noise, him rushing to get everything set up.

When he exited the kitchen, he had two plates with him. Setting them down, he sat beside her. "Here we have a mexican mac and cheese, fried into 5 little hand breaded dumplings. Paired with a lemon garlic chicken strip, curled around a mini true corn on the cob."

Isabelle had to hold back a laugh when she felt the sudden rush of emotions that whirled through Alvaro when she had agreed to stay. Worry, slight panic, maybe some excitement? The moved so quickly she could hardly keep up. Al was all over it, though, and was moving on to the second course so that she wouldn't get too full before finishing. When he left the room she laughed to herself quietly. This was the best time she'd had in far too long.

When he came back, she nearly squeed with delight. "You make all my favorite comfort foods so interesting." She said, grabbing one of the dumplings and biting into it tentatively - she would have popped the whole thing in her mouth, but she didn't want to burn it and ruin the rest of the dinner.

"Keep this up and I might stay for two nights."

"You haven't seen what is on the menu for breakfast." He said, still entertaining the idea of having her stay for two nights. He'd cancel on everyone, well except his mom. She had a habit of being number one in all things or throwing a complete fit. Getting back to her, he nodded some. "I like making your favorites...I like entertaining you." Shrugging his shoulders, he took a bite himself and nodded. "It came out well. I tried not to overload you on food...so I figured little mini selections would be better. So you could pick and choose what you wanted to eat."

Waiting for her in the kitchen was another course and dessert. Alvaro wasn't the type to skip on the details, not for her. Isabelle was the girl, you date and marry. Alvaro was the interesting guy you impress your friends with and then go marry his friend John. So, he was enamored that she would even dream of staying.

"Breakfast lessons will start in the morning."

"With how well you know me, I can only imagine it'll become my instant favorite." She said, laughing. She loved this, everything about it. She could stay with him forever, and it was a shame she had ever denied this part of herself. The part that wanted Alvaro for all of eternity. It had been necessary, at the time, to push those thoughts and feelings away... but now she was glad they could resurface without hurting her. Because he was here, and he would stay.

If Isabelle could truly read his thoughts, his every single thought, she would have yelled at him for ever dreaming she wouldn't marry him. Although they were young, Isabelle had been planning her marriage to Al since they were children. There was only one brief, two year period when she thought that wouldn't be a possibility. Now, it was as if that time had never happened - even though there were parts of Isabelle that were still broken from Cruz, parts she kept well hidden (as best she could) from Al.

"Good. Never too early to start learning. Though if there isn't coffee involved, I will be in no shape to do anything but growl at you." She said with a bit of a laugh, taking another one of the dumplings and eating it, before eating some of the chicken-and-corn. She ate about half of it before thinking she should probably stop, despite how much she loved the dumplings.

Laughing, he nodded his head in agreement. It was never a good thing to wake her up without ground coffee waiting in the wings. Enough to make his mother wonder why he purchased coffee beans this morning. He ground them by hand and infused a few mild herbs to enhance their flavor. Had he been wanting her to stay? Of course he had. Alvaro knew her affinity for coffee was strong, he'd been prepared since the moment she developed her love for the bean.

"Ok, last course, with dessert." Collecting everything he went into he kitchen, taking a bit longer than normal. He was putting the dish washer to work, while preparing to bring everything out to her. He didn't spare any bit of creativity with his final dish. Stuffing, made the old fashion way, wrapped in a cornbread muffin. He made everything miniature as not to deter her hunger. They were scattered on a bed of sweet potatos whipped into a mash and seasoned with cinnamon and cayenne pepper for heat. The dessert that accompanied with several miniature cubes of pie. With all of the wedding business they got, how could he not have this ready to go?

Anyone who knew Isabelle knew that if she did not have coffee, you should not speak to her. Given her family's line of work, it only made sense that she either loved coffee with a passion or hated it with equal dispassion. She chose to love and embrace it, and it was integral to her lifestyle. Although she didn't mind people who didn't like coffee, she herself couldn't just live without it. The month she had spent unable to drink coffee because of her brain injury had been almost as bad as the attack itself, for which she still bore a few scars - though the ones on her face were hardly noticeable now.

"Okay." She said, brightening up a bit. She did love a good dessert - but even that was forgotten when she saw the stuffing and cornbread. Aside from most potato products and some pastas, stuffing was her favorite. Thanksgiving was like heaven for her, and even she could work up an appetite for a meal that involved a lot of potatoes and stuffing.

"You, sir, are a culinary genius." She said, taking her fork and not wasting any time digging in to their main course. She had enough room in her stomach that she knew she could eat a decent amount of this and still eat a few bites of each tasting of pie. "And you spoil me, Al. I don't deserve all this."

"If you don't deserve this than who?" He asked, wondering if she'd actually have an answer for him. He could be a Romeo at times, but now? He was speaking directly from his heart. He thought the world of this woman. There was nothing good she didn't deserve. He wished he could give her everything she deserved, but until he could he would do what was possible for him. "You deserve the best the world has to offer. I may not be the richest man, but my family is well off. My future...without a college degree, may not be the brightest, but I'm a hard worker." Pleading his case, he stopped and reached for the sangria so he could stop thinking out loud.

Even if she could feel his emotions, he suffered from word vomit whenever she was around. He didn't dislike it, but it always made him question if he was doing too much. "If marriage is what you want from me, we can work to that. However, I'm not wearing that peach colored tie you dreamt up. We can meet in the middle on the color."

"Well, I still don't know if I deserve all this but I wouldn't want anyone else to have it, either." She blushed. "That's selfish, I know. But I just wouldn't want you treating someone else this way, I want you all for me." She wasn't ashamed at all that she felt that way, either. Now that he was back in her life, she wasn't going to let him go. Even if he tried to force her away, it wasn't going to be that easy. Al went on to say he wasn't the richest or most educated man, and Isabelle shushed him. "Don't, Al. I don't need your riches or your high paying, CEO job of some ridiculous company. That doesn't matter to me, at all." She said, her face set rather harshly. They both knew she was both rich and well-connected enough for the both of them, anyway. "What's important to me is that you love me, and me only, and when you work hard it's for our happiness, love, and safety - not for our travel plans or expensive things."

As was custom with Al, he thought in futures. He thought of their possibilities, of marriage even though they weren't even officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet. "Marriage is something I want in my future." She said, though she didn't quantify in what sort of sense, not yet. She couldn't imagine anything going wrong with her and Al anymore, but she had thought that about them before, too, when he had left her. She wanted to make sure he was going to stay this time.

"But don't worry, you'll be wearing mint instead."

Listening to her words, he couldn't do much be smile. Alvaro wanted to be wanted. It almost knocked him out of his chair. Reaching for the table cloth he fidgeted with the fabric to make sure he was still in the present time. "I can't promise you I will ever be a CEO or have a high paying job. But I can promise, everything I do will be to make you happy." Oddly, he did promise her. Alvaro didn't like making promises, because it obligated him. Abrams, took their word, seriously.

"I think we both know, I love you unconditionally and nothing has ever gotten in the way of that. Even when I've pushed you, it's because I love you." Releasing the table cloth, he ran a hand through his hair and looked at her. "It's you, it has always been you."

"Mint...not so bad. My mother will like it."

The promise from Al was good enough. Isabelle knew how seriously the Abrams family took their promises, and how far he would go to make her happy and to be with her. She knew he didn't particularly want to be in their Circle, but he had joined and re-joined it for her anyway. Because it was important, for all of them, and so despite his frustrations and dislike of some of the other members, he joined. Even after everything, even before they were on really good terms again. Isabelle trusted his promises completely. "Good." She replied, giving him another smile - the kind that Isabelle had always and would always reserve just for him.

"I love you too, Al. I always have, and I always will. I hope you know - while I don't regret the relationship I had with Cruz, it never meant that I didn't love you, too. That's what made the whole thing so difficult." It had not been an easy decision or one she had taken lightly, choosing Cruz over Al at that time. But she didn't know if Al was going to stay, and her broken heart over being abandoned by Al had not yet healed at the time he had returned. It wasn't a mistake, but it was something she had wished she could have avoided entirely.

"Mint is a beautiful color. I think it'll play nicely with everything else. Mint and gray. Or maybe mint and chocolate. I don't know, we'll see."

When she said she loved him, the obvious boost in his emotional status was obvious...well to her anyway. Running a hand through his hair, he couldn't help but focus on her whenever she spoke. He was helplessly hypnotized by her every word, until she mentioned his name. It wasn't a secret that Alvaro was not a fan of Cruz. From the moment he felt he foresaw a possible future for Belle with him. If there is one thing Alvaro hated, it was disappointing people and Cruz disappointed him. If he was to be with Isabelle, he was supposed to make her happy forever...or die trying.

He didn't die.

Shaking the thoughts from his head he nodded. "We don't have to talk about that. It happened, we've worked past it. He is your past, I am your present and we can only hope for the future." A statement, he truly meant. He wanted to be her future. "Now this wedding business, as long as their is an open bar, I will agree to everything you desire."

Many people underestimated Cruz, or the things he would have done to make Isabelle happy. Abandon his whole family, even. But Isabelle had been the one to force him away - she had made that choice for them both, and she had used her abilities to make him leave. And so he did leave, and she had thoroughly betrayed him in the process. Isabelle would never put any blame on Cruz for their relationship ending, but it was not something she shared with many people.

Nodding her head, she was glad that they could at least bring it up without getting into a fight, but it was still difficult to go to those topics without discomfort and some negativity. She pushed some of her hair back and finished eating up her dessert, which was equally as delicious as all the rest of the food, and had a few more sips of her juiced-down sangria.

"Open bar?" She said, shaking her head. "No, no no no. We do not want our families and everyone else's families around an open bar." She said, laughing. Although it was not just the idea of them all being wasted that made her not want to have an open bar, but the tensions that often rose between their families, it was recipe for disaster.

After a brief moment, she leaned back, full, and sighed. "This was delicious. But I think I might be sick if I even look at any more food right now. Do you want to go sit, and talk?"

There was no swaying his opinion on the matter. Cruz dropped the ball. Alvaro expected him to be here no matter what. He would not accept excuses, nor would he tolerate prattling about the logistics of what happened. He demanded Isabelle be protected. It was natural for him to be stubborn about a situation.

"Yes an open bar. Why not? So ok, maybe our families probably shouldn't drink around one another. But that doesn't mean Al shouldn't be able to drink." HE laughed, knowing full well he would cave into her demand. Not that he couldn't fight, but he knew she'd been planning her dream wedding since she was a girl. And if no open bar was required, he would oblige her wishes.

"But I'm not budging on getting to dance that Jewish chair dance. I want to fly like a bird!"

Alvaro was quite stubborn and Isabelle knew it would take a lot of work to get him to ever see her side on it, but it just wasn't worth the effort right now.She wouldn't push the subject because she really didn't think that it mattered enough to strain their still fragile relationship.

"We'll make sure you have a pocket sewn into your suit for a flask. But if you're drunk before we say I do I'll say I don't." She warned, sticking her tongue out at him playfully before laughing.

She shook her head, half rolling her eyes but not seriously. Al had mentioned this before, multiple times even, and it was something that he did seem particularly keen on for his wedding. "I still feel like that's some sort of sacrilege or something." She did feel like using the traditions of other religions and cultures was bad if you weren't that religion or culture, but then they did take a lot in fashion from other cultures - maybe she shouldn't be one to talk.

"So I have something to tell you that I've been sort of hiding."
