This was bullshit. All of it was just... bullshit. Jake needed to be home. He had a clan to look after, he had to learn how to do that to the best of his abilities, and he had a Mate he was missing fiercely. He probably had responsibilities he didn't even know about yet, never mind the ones he'd only really half-paid attention to when he'd been watching Eytukan and Tsu'tey interacting. No, never mind the probably, he did. Fucking hell, how was he supposed to learn to be Olo'eyktan like this? Stuck under some sort of bubble in the past in a city that didn't even exist anymore, on Earth! And in the wrong fucking body, too. His stupid weak tawtute body, worn out from months of ignoring it in favor of his real body, his Avatar, and still recovering from nearly dying at the end of the fight with Quaritch. Even thinking of the man had him biting back a hiss, which really wasn't going to work, not in his current body. He was Na'vi, he was one of the People and he needed to be with them. But he couldn't.
Distractions were the order of the day. There was tequila and coffee, and so far, some good company to share both with. There was the puzzle of dealing with such old technology, clunky phones and tiny vidscreens, weird credit cards and no maglevs, what the hell? And there was the shock of seeing so much open space in an Earth setting. Maybe he was the only one who saw it like that, but it was still true. His old apartment could have fitted into his new one four times over, at least. And still, he struggled with being inside. He wanted his home. He wanted forests and floating mountains, Hometree and the Tree of Voices, he wanted to go flying on his ikran or on Toruk, he needed more space. He'd been cooped up in Site 26 for months in this body, he needed to be outside. So he was exploring.
He'd found a shop that sold old-style paper maps, and was quickly working out where he'd been and how to get to different places, and his map was rapidly filling up with his own notes. Hestia had mentioned looking at the Pacific on the network. Maybe he'd go do that. Yeah.
