A wise fear. It's monstrously long... not least because (as Jordan himself admitted) he got lost in the middle and wasn't sure how to get from where he was to the ending. There's at least two and a half books where you get a thousand pages of nothing much happening. He did seem to find his stride again with the last one, but then he kind of died. I'd wait and see how the replacement author wraps things up before recommending the series to anyone.
