"...Yes, that's fine. Thank you very much; Katou and I look forward to working together with you and your clients." Iwaki hung up the phone and smiled at Katou, who was practically bouncing on the couch with nervous energy.
"That was Tanahashi-san from Sigma Pro," Iwaki explained unnecessarily, since it had been obvious whom he had been speaking to when he had answered the phone with "Hello, Tanahashi-san." Ignoring Katou's impatience, Iwaki continued, "The casting has been finalized, and he's arranged a meeting for us with the voice actors."
"I'm so excited, Iwaki-san!" Katou exclaimed, bouncing right off the couch to throw his arms around Iwaki. "Our first production together, even if it is only a CD drama!"
"There's no 'only' about it," Iwaki admonished him sternly. "Those voice actors work just as hard at their craft as we do, so don't belittle their efforts."
Katou gave his lover a startled look, then slowly nodded as Iwaki's words sunk in. "You're right, Iwaki-san," he said humbly. "I remember that I was really impressed with the acting on the audition tapes we listened to--as high a caliber as you could expect to find on a live-action TV show or movie. You know, maybe in some ways, it takes even greater skill to convey emotion with only one's voice, without the help of gestures or facial expressions."
"That's right," Iwaki said, smiling at Katou approvingly. "Let's greet them as respected colleagues."
"Okay!" Katou replied happily, basking in the warmth of Iwaki's approval. There was a saying about familiarity breeding contempt, but Katou never tired of seeing Iwaki smile at him, and he never ceased to feel a thrill of desire run through his body whenever Iwaki touched or kissed him. He wrapped his arms more tightly around Iwaki, pulling his lover closer, and pressed his mouth against Iwaki's.
"We are now partners in both our professional and personal lives," Katou murmured in a husky voice. "I think that's something we should celebrate."
"And I can imagine how you think we ought to celebrate," Iwaki replied dryly, but there was humor in his voice and affection in his gaze.
"Can you think of a better way to celebrate?" Katou asked with a mischievous grin, and Iwaki laughed and shook his head.
"No, I suppose not," Iwaki conceded, and let Katou lead him into the bedroom.
