As per the notice over the journals last night, the first meeting of the Wireless Club for the term took place this afternoon; further meetings will take place twice a week on Sundays and Tuesdays for an hour each. Professor Egg never showed up this time, as he had been distracted by a fascinating Muggle typewriter, ie. he got his hands stuck in it. Members probably sat around for a few minutes wondering what was going on until Rupert left to find out and came back. Once the meeting actually started, the first thing on the agenda was Saturday's Quidditch match -- the usual commentator somehow already managed to get himself into a serious accident in the greenhouses due to a vicious potted plant from the Amazon and won't be able to do the game, so the Wireless Club has been tasked with it. If necessary, there would have been some discussion on it, but otherwise, volunteers could sign up on a sheet of parchment. After that, a brief part of the meeting was devoted to discussing some possible new ideas for the club to try this term. Readings of patriotic poetry to boost morale in war-time was mentioned earlier and brought up again for discussion -- John would have been looked to as the expert in that -- and Rupert also thought it would be a good idea to broadcast updates on the Muggle war and war effort so that everyone can know about things beyond the magical world. Everyone was, of course, encouraged to bring up their own ideas as well to add to the pool. |
