ALL YEARS. This week, everyone will be given the same lecture, although obviously with their respective year only. Tuesday's class is basically a post-holidays review of some of the basics duelling -- namely safety; etiquette; and the differences between formal, professional, and real duels. No wands are required unless students are selected for demonstrations, and anyone who disobeys this rule will be verbally mocked and, if they keep misbehaving (especially if they cast any spells), given a detention. HOMEWORK. Readings include September's safety hand-out (additional copies available if anyone lost theirs, but would have been given out with a disappointed glare); last term's notes; sections of 'Alas! He Shot Me in the Back: A Comprehensive Guide to Formal Duelling Etiquette' (copies on hold at the library). Students were reminded they would be tested on the material on Thursday, but Professor Viridian didn't specify how they would be examined. 'VOLUNTEERS'. FIFTH YEARS. HECTOR was asked to explain to the class what the quickest way to the hospital wing is, as he is a 'nancy boy who would know that after four-and-a-half years of doing miserably in [Professor Viridian's] class'. TOM and IAGO were called up to the front of the class to demonstrate proper etiquette in a formal challenge and duel, and though he chose them because he thinks they're both good students, he did have a go at Iago about how manners should be something he's well-versed in if he helps Professor Gulch with the Future Mothers Club. |
