"HI! How are you; hello new faces, hello old faces. I beseech your silence, my friends, for we are already late! Because, you know, in the theatre, if you are early, you are right on time, and if you're on time then you are already late(!) With that said, I am Professor Herbert Beery, many of you know me as your Herbology Professor, but I am also the Fine Arts Chair here at Hogwarts, orchestrating our very talented choir and directing our theatre productions. I'm sure you all remember last year's performance of Maximus the Mad Muggle Moves to Manchester? That was simply a delight, was it not?
This war has been tough on us all, myself included, and I know I was simply devastated when the Yuletide play was canceled before Christmas holidays. That is why I am so very excited that we were able to reschedule the show for early February, because you know what they say: "The show must go on!"
Now, I know that some of you may be worried that your marks in Herbology might sway my casting decisions; that the poor plant that you killed during your exams will have some weight on the decisions made here tonight: Fret not! We have turned a new leaf, if you will, and opened a new page in your Hogwarts career. And I am so thrilled to see so many new people looking to try out today! Why yes, sitting out there in the audience tonight, looking dreamy-eyed up at the stage with dreams of fame and fortune, we just might have our school's next next glimmering star; our next... well, our next Dagmar Wigworthy. Hi Dagmar. Love what you've done with your hair.
And for those of you who find that the stage is not your calling, do not despair. We always are in need of stage hands, either to assist with props or set design or costumes. NOW. The audition process is very simple. First we will sing, then do some cold reads from the script, and then finally strap on your dancing shoes, lads and lassies, for we need to see how well you can move. I have a few short dance steps that I've choreographed myself that I will be teaching you all later this evening. Now! Who would like to go first?"
