I write in hope of finding you safe and well dear brother. I must admit that fear has been growing in the depths of my heart for you over these past few weeks. Although I am sure you are more than adept to deal with any situation which befalls you, however with little to do at the house of our dear parents, worry seems to blind sight one quite by surprise. My worry is reserved not for you Rodolphus, it is with a heavy heart that I bear the awful news that our fathers condition seems to have deteriorated more than slightly over the past month. Naturally he too has been in my thoughts continuously and I pray daily that no other evils befall his soul nor his body.
I am forced to change the tone of this letter completely and hope you will not find it uncouth or disrespectful, yet I have a personal request to make of you my dearest. As I’m sure you are well aware the Malfoy ball is taking place on Saturday, it is my full intention to be present. I have been musing over my position in this newfound world outside the confines of school and have realised I have made an awful judgement. Clearly staying at home and reading is not the way one makes themselves a key strategist in society, and with this in mind it is my pleasure to announce to you that I shall be seeking a more active role in the comings and goings of the so called ‘socialite’ life. This said I feel it would be beneficial to me if there was a room to spare within your grand home for a beloved sister. I would very much like to converse at length with Bellatrix about expectations and indeed the functioning’s of our wonderful society with someone who has experienced it first hand as well as make use of the excellent facilities your home has to offer (it is also indeed true that at your home I will be placed much more in an epicentre of activity in comparison with that found at our parents). Therefore it would be my intention to return to the manor with you following the ball on Saturday. I thank you in advance, dear brother.
