OFFICE MEMO
TO: Alice Longbottom FROM: Bartemius Crouch Snr. DATE: July 7th, 1979 RE: Recent events regarding Ms. O'Hare.
URGENCY: High
With the recent events surrounding Miss O’Hare, I am concerned by the the amount of emotion you seemed to show regarding her possible sentence.
I would like to know why you think that age should play a factor into determining someone’s punishment. I can understand the opinion that everyone makes mistakes in their youth and that it does not determine their character. However, at the same time, Miss O’Hare cast an Unforgivable Curse on another human being, something that is illegal to all civilians.
Last time I checked, Auror Longbottom, an Unforgivable Curse was called so because of the large amounts of damage that it does to someone's health, both mentally and physically, and I personally hold that, if someone is able to cast an Unforgivable Curse, then they should be old enough to deal with the consequences.
Actions have consequences, Auror Longobottom, regardless of age. You would do well to remember this in the future.
