Presents and Owl, backdated 17 April
Dearest Georgie, Enjoy the day! Happy birthday. I think you'll find something of use beneath the surface. I recall telling you about that particular brooch, but remind me to give you some additional details later this month. With hugs and presents, [Slytherin-approved chocolates, obviously! Imported from Austria.] [Anglo-Saxon fibula, 6th century AD. From first glance, it might seem nothing more than an old artefact. However, the fibula radiates dark magic and has been passed down through the Rookwood/Rockwood lineage for centuries. Augustus obviously has too many assorted items like this on hand, so he has decided to give one he doesn’t really need, the “ælednys dalc” (burning brooch), to Georgina. The fibula/brooch naturally helps the wizard/witch successfully cast the Fiendfyre spell, making it a good possession for anyone intending on learning the complicated spell. Also, as a second boon, the wearer is a bit less susceptible to the effects of fire magic, giving them some extra protection. ] |
