Dear Alastor,
The usual owl opening pleasantries and health enquiries seem a little fatuous, given the circumstances. I do hope, though, that you're feeling more hale in body. Perhaps what I have to offer may help with any disquiet of mind still afflicting you.
Thank you for your report, by the way. It has been most useful in finally achieving an aim I've been pursuing for some time - I'm not sure if you've been keeping up with the news, but we're in the process of forming a taskforce for the specific prosecution of those whom you have specific reason to dislike: the Pryces and their undoubted mentor, Fenrir Greyback.
It's for this reason that I'm writing to you today, though you may have noticed the absence of official stationary. I could use your help, even though the DMLE cannot directly employ a werewolf. I'm sure in the years of our acquaintance you've noticed my willingness to bend the rules in the name of justice. Justice is very necessary for these monsters, and I am going to see them brought to it, as forcibly as need be. Finding them will be the hard part, made much easier if we had a man who could get inside. If we had you, Alastor. Those bastards may have actually handed you the means to destroy them, if you'll work with us - and play along with them - to see it done.
I will understand entirely, of course, if you wish to have nothing further to do with them, or indeed with the DMLE. But I do urge you most strongly to consider the good that you can still achieve in the world.
Yours sincerely,
