Quibbler: Evening Edition - 6 July 1980
by Carlotta Pinkstone Several Wizengamot members have been imperiused by terrorists, the Concerned Citizens for Truth reported today. The independent human rights group started by and comprised of British citizens interested in ensuring that decisions being made benefit the entirety of Wizarding Society have conducted individual interviews with a number of Wizengamot members throughout the past week and over the weekend searching for evidence of the Imperius curse after the allegations of Wizengamot elder, Tiberius Ogden during the Muggleborn trials several week ago. "It was a lot of work this weekend," Rosanna Slinkhard told the Quibbler. "But I'd say as it was well worth the results. Betwixt us we were able to talk to every Wizengamot member and determine that several of them were under the Imperius curse." The question is how such a thing could happen to Wizards and Witches who are considered to be very capable and why Ogden might have made his allegation of Death Eater involvement. Concerned Citizen for Truth member, MacFarlan told the Quibbler that after questioning, they were able to determine that those who Imperiused the Wizengamot wished to control the result of the trials and specifically wished to distract from the perpetrators of such crimes by throwing out the term Death Eaters. "People get all afright when Death Eaters are mentioned, so it was the perfect scare tactic," said MacFarlan. MacFarlan mentioned that the human rights group suspected members of the so-called Army of Albion, dangerous terrorists like Rufus Scrimgeour or Frank Longbottom of being behind this latest attack of unforgivable curses. The Concerned Citizens for the Truth recommended to the government early Monday morning that council members that were determined to be Imperiused undergo further investigation. The Minister's Office responded immediately by removing those Wizengamot members determined to be Imperiused, and immediately beginning the process of filling those positions. In the meantime the Ministry promises to continue to seek justice for every citizen of wizarding Britain. "The Citizens of Britain put their faith in the ability of the Wizengamot to make fair decisions based on the law. By using an Unforgivable curse in this way, these terrorists attempt to undermine the decisions of the Wizengamot, and by extension the government itself," Severus Snape, under-secretary to the Minister for Magic said in a statement to the press. "The Minister is exceedingly grateful to the Concerned Citizens for Truth. These individuals promote justice and seek truth and demonstrate the power of an informed and active citizenship." The Quibbler would like to remind readers that Imperiused curses can be counteracted with powdered horn of a Crumple-Horned Snorkack. |
