Aeneas Nott: Minister and Father in Just Two Days By Rita Skeeter
Excitement was prevalent throughout the air Tuesday, 24 February at the inauguration ceremony for the first democratically elected Minister of Magic, Aeneas Nott. Hundreds of witches and wizards came from all parts of England to personally watch the induction ceremony. Ever the gracious Minster, Mr. Nott greeted the public as he walked up the stairs of Gringott’s Bank, shaking the hands and even kissing the babies of his voting public. Once he solemnly swore his loyalty to the Wizarding World, Mr. Nott gave an empowering and uplifting speech to his supporters and public.
In said speech, the newly inducted Minister acknowledged his term as, “the dawning of a new era, a new beginning free from corruption and terrorism” and continued on in the same passionate manner, invigorating his listeners with every word out of his mouth. His brief, but powerful speech ended with this, “I promise here and now that I shall be the Minister of the people, the witches and wizards, and do everything in my power to bring glory and prosperity to us all.” Following his rousing anthem, the audience burst into applause and Mr. Nott made his way to his reception held at the Foundation for the Promotion of Wizarding Society and Culture.
Mr. Nott’s reception was filled with the crème of society, and each member greeted their new minister and his stunning wife, Claudette, graciously and humbly. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Malfoy, looking the ever elegant couple, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Rodolphus Lestrange, Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Zabini, and Mr. Atticus Avery. The reception was going perfectly according to plan until suddenly Mrs. Nott was ushered out of the hall.
It seems that Mrs. Nott had gone into labour and was quickly rushed to St. Mungo’s. After nearly 24 hours of labour, Mr. and Mrs. Aeneas Nott welcomed a son, Theodore Marcel, into the world. Although neither of the Notts were available for comment, cousin to Mr. Nott, Walden Macnair spoke of his happiness, “A child is a blessing, especially a son, and I cannot think of two parents who could be better blessed. As a recently married man I hope that someday my wife and I will be able to experience the same joy.”
The birth of children is always a sign of hope, and young Theodore’s birth is doubly so. In these dark times, we must look towards light, and both Theodore and his father are beacons of that light for the Wizarding World. We at the Daily Prophet extend our congratulations to the Nott family, and know that the birth of their son can only be a sign of good things to come for us all.
