Expanding Safezones: Protecting Us From Imminent Danger By Rita Skeeter
In the few short weeks since the New Year, there has been much change. However, whenever there are modifications in our way of life, there must also be an event to cause said changes. The epic battle at the Ministry of Magic caused by internal terrorists in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement forced us all to call into question who we could trust. Thankfully, a new ministry arose, one better than its predecessor, and took it upon themselves to better the lives of the Wizarding World. Sunday’s dark army attacks, however, forced us once again to question not only trust, but our safety as well.
The threat of a possible terrorist attack is still high. Although the escaped terrorists have been silent since their attack upon the ministry earlier this year, the Wanted posters around town serve as a reminder that these traitors have not been caught and are still a danger to our society and our way of life. The question then remains, how can you protect yourself and your family? What can you do to ensure that you and your loved ones do not become victims of another attack? The answer lies in one of the few good ideas implemented from the previous ministry: safezones. Like much of the old ministry, however, the idea was good at the core, but left much to be desired. The Foundation for the Promotion of Wizarding Society and Culture has decided to take it upon themselves to fix this, and has begun lobbying for the expansion of the safezones.
“Our goal is to turn the safezones into a place where wizards and witches can truly feel like a community in these troubled times.” Active Foundation Member, Corbina Lestrange, explained. “Ideally the foundation would like to raise enough to provide families with full health care, schools, and childcare, in an effort to help the safehouses act less like a sanctuary and more like a neighbourhood where they feel both safe and welcome.”
Founder of the Foundation for the Promotion of Wizarding Society and Culture, Narcissa Malfoy, impassionedly explained the need for such expansions. “The Wizarding community absolutely needs a place where safety for our children can be insured – we have seen the devastation caused by Dark creatures in the past few days, and it is vital that we take protective measures. Safezones will guarantee citizens full governmental protection at all times, and ensure that this tragedy does not happen again.”
Foundation employees have already begun work with the ministry in order to finalize expansion plans and fundraising is to begin today. With the safety of you and your families in question, there seems to be no clearer option than to support this expansion and move immediately.
