Sirius could only lay on his back for so long, despite what some people may tell you about him. He'd been laying back most of the early afternoon, after some slightly earth shattering news about Peter and Mrs Potter deciding to knock ten years off his life by proving that yes, once upon a time, the comely Mrs P was more than capable of seducing men and boys everywhere. He thought he ought to tell James' father he was a very lucky man but he wasn't sure the old man would really understand, given his current condition. The thought of that was slightly sobering, but it hadn't ruined him going and playing around with James about his mother being a very naughty woman. Traumatising James was a true spectator sport and no one got hurt until he started having the night terrors. Not wanting to smoke, talk and laugh himself completely hoarse, Sirius eventually made his way downstairs where the charming Evans - Mrs Potter Junior, with the tits and arse that Hogwarts males tended to drool over - had perched herself. "Alright, Evans?" He said, in a slightly cheerful voice. At the tender age of eighteen (though most of his friends had reached the ancient age of nineteen), most of his friends were growing up, smoking pot and having sex. Now if you could get rid of this war ridiculousness, it would be a fantastic time to be alive. Oh, well; one thing at a time. Lily sat in a comfortable chair with her legs over the armrests, flipping through a Healer training book that Andromeda had lent her. The day had been great fun so far, with the prank on Sirius coming off remarkably well. Everyone needed a laugh, and although he hadn't declared that he knew it had all been a joke, Lily was sure that he had figured it out and was glad he wasn't upset. We've all got to be willing to have a joke pulled on us now, she thought. Things were tense enough outside the walls of the Potter home. If they lost their humour. She looked up at Sirius as he walked into the room and grinned at him. "I'm alright, you?" She stuck her pagemarker in the book. The only person who still called her Evans was Sirius, and it amused her. "No new earth shattering news this afternoon, I hope?" Sirius flopped himself on his arse; no one said anything about not being able to sit on his arse all day because he could do that and did as much as he could fit in with the world being as it was. "Suppose you know nothing about Mrs P scaring me half to death this morning, do you?" He smirked, sizing her up. He had no idea if she was a part of this little scheme or not but Lily Evans - correction, Lily Potter - was hard to size up. You never knew what she was going to do next! That was what made her a perfect match for Prongs, as soon as the slimey snake was out of the way and she got that stick out of her arse. "Hmm....let me guess. Ginger Snaps is not the name of a prostitute, Pete still can't shag a girl because he's got the confidence of his animal alter ego and Mrs P doesn't fancy having a nibble with me. Isn't that enough shocks for one day?" He watched her reaction to see if she gave anything away but he wasn't really bothered. He knew when he'd been had. "I need to be better prankster again. I've suddenly turned into an adult. This is all your bloody fault. Your influence on James and it's rubbing off on me." Lily closed the book and left it in her lap, pulling a strand of her long red hair out of her hair. She couldn't help but look amused; she'd kept her face straight when it was imperative, but now there was no reason to keep the show going. "Mrs. P scared you, did she?" Lily called her mom whenever her mother-in-law was around since Mrs. Potter really wanted her to, but it was difficult to call her that in light of her own tragedy all the time just yet. "I hadn't the foggiest," she said with a wink. "Did she pop up behind you and say 'Boo'?" She burst out laughing had to nod. "Gingersnaps are a beloved biscuit, not a tramp. As far as I know, Pete's still a virgin, and no, Mrs. P definitely doesn't want a bite out of you. She's got a brilliant sense of humour, but I think it weirded her out almost as it did you." She pursed her lips. "We all did pretty brilliant, didn't we?" She wasn't the best prankster, but she did love to come up with a joke now and then, as long as it couldn't hurt anyone. Lily's hand covered her mouth as she held back a laugh. "Sirius!" she said, even though she knew that there was some level of truth -- though Mrs. P hadn't wanted anything to pop up, she had had to look like she did. "We all thought it'd be fun, and so did she." Even though Mrs. Potter was older than her mom, she could never imagine her mother trying something like that. She was more like Petunia in that respect. She felt a twinge of sadness thinking about her mum, but she kept her smile on bravely. It was easier for everyone to think that she had moved on, wasn't it? She grinned at his comment about bad influences. "Marlene and I came up with the idea, actually. Remus was a bit terrified about it, really, so it seems the bad influences have been focused on me." She twirled a lock of her hair around her finger. "But, really, you can't have thought I was so boring to never play a joke like that." She and Severus used to play harmless jokes on each other, and she'd always tried to get Tuney in on being clownish. That had never really worked, but Lily had still tried. "So you want to find a sweet, innocent girl that you can corrupt?" she asked. She had always wondered if Sirius could actually fall for someone other than himself. Perhaps what he needed to settle down was a girl that would make him make an absolute fool of himself. All the same, Lily didn't know that she'd want Sirius to change much. Too many things were changing. "I'll be on my guard, Black!" "Li-lay," Sirius elongated playfully, teasing the older girl slightly. She was always a little too old for her age in his opinion, much as he felt he had been as a child so really, he was all for scandalising her and making her play little games. "Trust bloody McKinnon to be in on it. That girl has been a problem since the day we corrupted her." Sirius smiled widely at the thought. "As you can imagine, James and I are very proud. She has become quite the little madame. You're on your way, Evans. Stick with it." He winked, half joking and half implying she would indeed make an excellent corruptive influence these days. "I don't want someone to corrupt. It's just hard to find good looking, smoking, sexually experienced, unwanting of children woman with a nicely shaped bum." Sirius shrugged and shifted on the seat. Thinking up ways to stop Death Eaters and trip up the infamous wife of James Potter. "I will have my day. Don't you worry. As soon as the masked morons have kicked the bucket." He made a face at the reference, biting any mention of Lily's associations. "I always told her she ought to steer clear of your lot," Lily said. "But now I'm glad she did. Now she can join me in dealing with all of you." She loved being around all of the boys, but she honestly didn't know what she'd do without Marlene around. The enormous amounts of testosterone were too high even for Lily to deal with. She turned the book over in her hands with a smirk. "You're not going to be able to corrupt me," she told him. "Maybe I'm just letting my true, tricky self come out." Lily couldn't help but laugh at his idea of the perfect woman. "I see, so you want one already corrupted for you. I guess that makes your job much easier, though I'd have to say that it sounds rather boring." If, and that was a big if, Sirius found someone that he'd fall head over heels for, Lily had a suspicion that she'd end up changing him more than he changed her. She bit the inside of her lip for a moment. Lily didn't really want anyone to die, but she did want this all to end. "Or locked up," she amended. Being in Azkaban was as good as being dead, wasn't it? "Marlene never listens to anyone. That's why she's Marlene and utterly brilliant." And a lot more corrupted for it but in Sirius' opinion, that sweetened the whole thing. He cocked his head to one side and smirked at her in a self-satisfied way. "Oh, come on, Evans. You're already corrupted. You were corrupted the second you let James touch your tits. You were corrupted when you agreed to date him. You were corrupted the second you found him less than repulsive, though why you ever did, I'll never understand." He shrugged. "James did all the work with you. One day I hope to have someone I give a damn about enough to try as hard as he did with you." Sirius shook his head, his hair getting even messier than before. "I don't want someone whose already corrupted. Just a like minded individual where I can enjoy my life and so can he, she or it." He was very adamant on the type of person he'd even consider letting into his bedroom. "If I ever meet someone I like enough to stay until the next morning, I'll know I'm in trouble." "Oh, sure. Soul suckers for the ones who really deserve it but the rest can die. Much kinder." Sirius was marvelled at his own compassion sometimes, but it was there. |
