RP thread: Dorcas Meadowes and friends, in process Who Dorcas & company! Where The Leaky Cauldron. When 19 February 1979, late evening [backdated]. Summary Dorcas and her friends are partying for her nineteenth birthday! Rating Ah, PG-13 since there will be drinking, most likely swearing, and whatnot.
Dorcas was rather looking forward to her 'party' all day. Though, she supposed it wasn't as much of a party as an impromptu, purposeful pub run; indeed, what Dorcas had planned for the evening was extremely more laid back than one's typical idea of a party. Whatever one decided to define Dorcas's birthday outing as, it was undoubtedly necessary, given the state of things. It was almost palpably obvious to Dorcas and she imagined those around her as well that there was an extremely high amount of tension in the air, and no one seemed to be enjoying themselves much lately. Not unless you were a purist berk, that is. Dorcas imagined they were enjoying themselves quite a bit in light of the signs that had sprouted up all over Diagon Alley.
Having just finished her rounds over at Knockturn Alley, Dorcas turned the corner leading from Knockturn on to Diagon Alley. The moment Dorcas turned on to the vastly more familiar yet now slightly less friendly street, a few of the 'No Mudbloods Allowed' signs came plainly into view. Dorcas's eyes lingered on the sign hanging up in Magical Menagerie for a split second before quickly adverting them away from the store front, keeping her expression stoic all the while. She still felt a slight pang of hurt when she saw the sign, but Dorcas refused to let that hurtfulness show through her expression. After all, a bunch of deterred, grim faced 'mudbloods' is exactly what the Death Eaters and their purist, git followers wanted to see, and Dorcas had long since decided she would not be granting them that satisfaction. On the contrary, Dorcas forced a bit of a smile. After all it was her birthday, she had taken the afternoon off to have lunch with her muggle family, and now, she was off to go drinking with some mates. Dorcas had absolutely nothing to grimace about at the current moment.
Dorcas walked in to the Leaky Cauldron, the bells at the door chiming to mark her entrance. Dorcas made her way over to the counter and leaned in to talk to the bar tender.
"Can I get those tables over there together?" she asked, pointing to a cluster of three tables in the corner. "Some of my mates are meeting me here," she explained. The bar tender nodded in response "Go right ahead," he said. Dorcas flashed the bar tender a grin and leaned back off the counter, pushing the three tables together with a flick of her wand as she approached.
