Sighing, Rookwood started on his second report of the day; this one concerned documentation of cleaning up a spill in one of the storage rooms. Report-writing had become his forte, along with memos. After a good page was scrawled by his dictaquil, Augustus sat back in his chair, thankfully a comfy one, and daydreamed for a spell. Five minutes later, he started staring again at the parchment; it was a good method to let his space filler flow.
The door to his office suddenly opened, and Augustus didn’t jump, but his attention immediately became fixed upon the location of movement. He knew where his wand was; if it was trouble (always a possibility), he’d be on the offensive within a second. However, no Auror was standing there, demanding that he come in for questioning over Death Eater activity; instead, an unusually animated Aloysius Croaker had entered. Something must have happened, and Augustus managed to stand up once that realisation dawned. While he had picked up every word the man elatedly spoke, he needed more information. Obviously something in the Time Room – Augustus could deduce that much.
“Hello, Aloysius! ....You’ve encountered a breakthrough? Take a seat if you like and please explain in schoolchildren terms for me, considering it involves arithmancy...well maybe not schoolchildren terms, but at least from the beginning so I can understand.” Rookwood gave a small smile, though one with some reserve; he wanted to know what was going on before he’d start the congratulatory brandy and slapping of the back.
