Well, now all that was left was to think of a place to go, and if all else failed he could just ask Sirius and James for an idea -- then do the complete opposite. Following Marlene out of the cart, he rolled his eyes, unable to quite believe that anyone would have pet peacocks either. "It is unbelievable. I suppose they just like to remind people every chance they get how much money they have. You're probably right. God forbid any of their peacocks have any imperfections." How pretentious could one get? What was so bad about having a normal pet like a dog or a cat? On second thought, Remus was glad the animals weren't dogs or cats -- they were both a lot more curious than peacocks, and would likely have come to inspect both he and Marlene during rounds. That certainly would not go over well, at least for Remus. "As much as I'd like to stay... we might want to start heading back, do you think? I can't remember if I need to work tomorrow, and I don't think Mr S would appreciate it if I fell asleep on the job," he grinned.
Unfortunately it was starting to get a bit late, the carnival workers tersely looming about their stands and staring at the fairground's few remaining guests with menacing grins while beckoning them, daring them to step right up to their display. As fascinating as muggle's abilities with lightbulbs could be, the light they cast off onto the festival workers at this time of night was vaguely unsettling. "Yeah, you're probably right. You know how the others worry," Marlene replied amusedly. She decided not to mention the fact that Dorcas sometimes did look minorly concerned when she got back from rounds with Remus a bit late, but brushed that off as something that was So Very Unimportant. Hopefully her paranoid Ravenclawish friend hadn't gotten a chance to look at the journals that night, what with The Great Werewolf Unveiling. "And as you are not Alberto and tomorrow is not a Tuesday, I can't see sleeping at work going over too well, no," she agreed.
"I'm sure it doesn't help that neither of us told anyone where we were going," Remus mused out loud, realising that may not have been the brightest of ideas. "Especially when we're not on patrol tonight. I told Peter I'd be coming over to stay at his place..." he trailed off, thinking he could have at least tossed a quick note in his journal. Well, it was too late now, and he'd be back soon enough to explain where he had been. It was funny how just spending a little time with someone you liked could make you feel so much better, even having an entirely awful day. "Thanks, by the way. For taking me here, and for the candy floss -- and not shoving me out of the ferris wheel." As they couldn't exactly apparate away in the middle of the fair grounds, Remus still held Marlene's hand in his free hand as they made their way toward where they had come in. "Speaking of the candy floss, though, there's still some left," he offered.
"Yeaaaaah, that is probably a good point," Marlene noted, taking another clump of the leftover candy floss Remus offered and popped it into her mouth. She really had to stop doing that: taking off to places without letting people know where she was going first. Not that, of course, there was any reason to worry, as she was with Remus (rather than charging off on her own to do something that she would definitely regret later, which Marlene was also somewhat prone to doing). Oh well. She was an adult; she had every right to be able to go where she wanted whenever she wanted with, and if people got up in her face about it, they could sod off. "And you're welcome, dude! Any time you need to get out of the house and away from explosive arguments or anything, come on by. I'm almost always around," she nodded as they moved away from the fairgrounds and back towards her parents' house, where it'd be safe to apparate. "And no more ferris wheel shoving threats. You'd probably bounce, and that would just confuse the muggles," she added, happy that at least if they had to leave, they were able to talk normally now without worrying about some muggle hearing them discuss wizardly things.
