THE FINAL BATTLE [01] [02] [03] [04] [05] [06] [07] [08] [09] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14]
The forest
For the most part, he'd stayed outside of the fighting -- a fact that Kettleburn had lived to regret as his loved ones lost their lives. Even with Hogwarts closed, he still had his creatures to care for, and he hadn't abandoned them yet. The Death Eaters were on their turf now, though, and if even the Giant Squid and the centaurs were assisting in the fighting, Kettleburn was more than happy to do his duty, to finally take advantage of the chance to avenge the baby sister and her children, all of them victims of this war. While his experience left Kettleburn more prone to recognizing faces and names as former students rather than Death Eaters, he'd seen enough posters and heard enough horrifying stories from his niece to recognize the snaggled shock of red hair that skulked by as Tabitha Pryce. "INCARCEROUS!" Unfortunately for Tabitha, she had been running at full speed across the grounds of Hogwarts along the edge of the forest, so when the ropes from Kettleburn's spell tangled around her legs (and if it hadn't been for her blind eye, she might have noticed the spell earlier) she fell forward to land flat on her face. She lifted herself up off the ground with a moan of pain, hand moving up to her nose to pull away with blood on her fingers, and she growled, turning her head to look at who had the nerve to attack her. She was barely back up on her feet again before she'd begun to run toward the man, her claws outstretched. Doris ran up on the fight a few minutes too late (as she saw it), coming to a skidding halt when she saw Tabitha Pryce running towards someone, ready to attack. "Impedimenta!" she shouted, the first spell that came to her mind. Slowing Pryce down would be the best option right now, to her. She hurried to where the man Pryce seemed to have wanted to attack was, panting slightly. "Are you all right? ... Professor Kettleburn?" Blinking with confusion, she raised an eyebrow at her the Care of Magical Creatures professor. Anzhelina wanted nothing more than to get back to safety, but when she spotted her former professor, she froze, eyes wandering to Tabitha and the other girl she didn't recognise. She tightened the grip on her wand. She had always liked Professor Kettleburn; this was not a fight she wanted to witness. "Miss Crockford, brilliant to see you, although these certainly aren't the best circumstances now, are they?" the professor replied, giving his former student a gentle half-smile. This wasn't exactly the best time for him to catch up with people, despite the fact that Kettleburn found quite a bit of amusement in seeing many of his former students (with an all-too-large number of them fighting for the wrong side). "I've a bit of vengeance to settle with this one," he turned his attention and his wand back to Tabitha as he cast an Incendio at the approaching werewolf. "No, I wouldn't call them the best!" Doris said with a laugh. She spotted another girl on the scene- she had no idea who it was, but she wanted to know if it was friend or foe. "Diffindo" was launched towards the frozen girl and then she looked at the werewolf Professor Kettleburn was attacking. Firing her own "Expulso" at the wolf, she put up a Shield charm, just in case. Anzhelina's attention was focused on Kettleburn, wondering if she should help him or not. The easiest thing would be to simply continue on her way like she hadn't seen anything, and hope that Kettleburn had enough fight in him to withstand Tabitha Pryce. When the slicing hex hit her she took a step backwards, momentarily caught by surprise. She didn't scream, but let out a small cry when she saw her chest covered in her own blood. Tabitha dove out of the way of the oncoming spells, although dodging them slowed her down just as well as any of the spells would have as she found herself on the ground again. She crawled forward several inches before she was on her feet again, pulling her cloak in front of her body to protect herself from the flames rushing toward her. However, while the cloak had effectively shielded her from the fire, her vision was momentarily obscured by the fabric and she failed to see the second spell coming toward her in time. Her cloak couldn't protect her from everything, and the blasting spell crashed against her and sent her flying backwards with a startled cry of pain. It was somewhat frustrating to Kettleburn that his Incendio had passed over the werewolf as if it had been nothing, but he wasn't about to waste time thinking about how werewolves were apparently coming in fireproof now. "You shouldn't be here, Ms. Dolohov; you're going to get hurt," he called to warn his former student a little too late. He hoped that she would take the single injury as a sign that she shouldn't be standing around in the middle of a battlefield. He slashed his wand through the air, drawing up several vines and roots from the ground surrounding Pryce, some of the weeds attempting to coil around Tabitha's arms, but most of them simply bludgeoning the werewolf. Doris raised an eyebrow at the not-werewolf. Dolohov. Whoever. Kettleburn thought she shouldn't be at the fight, so Doris noted not to attack her any further. That seemed rather unkind, if the Dolohov girl wasn't going to attack then Doris wouldn't attack either. Instead she focused on helping the Professor against Tabitha. Conjuring up some knives... which were little more than dull butter knives, she heated them with a silent charm and then with a cry of "OPPUGNO," she launched them towards the werewolf. "Look out!" Anzhelina shouted at the attacking werewolf, feeling no sympathy at all for the girl who bloodied her dress. Kettleburn, on the other hand, was a different story -- she wished he would not fight. In her mind, there was no doubt he would lose against a werewolf. Unless, of course, he was somehow skilled at more than just magical creatures. She put up a shield charm and tried to step out of the crossfire; her eyes lingered on Doris, resisting the urge to curse her in the back. Tabitha attempted to protect herself from the heavy vines and roots by holding her arms up, but some of them curled around her wrists, pulling down and leaving her upper body exposed to the bludgeoning roots. They struck against her arms and legs with bruising force, and she was pulled down to the ground despite her struggles, pulling and clawing at the vines around her arms keeping her down. She resorted to using her teeth, ripping at the vines and trying not to gag at the taste until she was able to free one of her arms before she set to work on the other. She had been oblivious to the knives until she heard Anzhelina's warning, glancing up to see them flying toward her at an alarming speed. Finally freeing her other arm, Tabitha stood back up and made to dodge out of the way of the knives, and not a moment too soon; the majority of the blades sunk into the ground, but the speed in which they were moving was enough to push one of the dull blades into her thigh, and with a sharp cry Tabitha was down on the ground again. With a trembling hand, she reached down and ripped the knife out of her leg, blood seeping through her clothes -- and she looked up at Doris with a furious snarl, ignoring the twinges of pain as she pushed herself up again and lunged for the girl instead. This wouldn't do at all. Kettleburn had been quite pleased with the way his spellwork on the vines had gone, but had forgotten about how sharp werewolf teeth were even when it wasn't their time of the month. That put a damper in things, especially when the redheaded woman charged after Doris. It was one thing to go after him, but another entirely to attack one of his former students (especially one who was fighting on his side). Outside of their own fight, people on both sides were falling. They'd all seen far too much death -- a fact which gave Kettleburn an idea. Turning away from the fight, Kettleburn pointed his wand toward the forbidden forest, aiming between the trees and calling out a particular incantation that was intended to release the scent of fresh meat. (Kettleburn was sure that Pryce must have been enjoying the stench as well). He then pulled a whistle from his pocket, playing a short tune into the fife. A few seconds later the sound of hooves galloping through the woods towards the grounds of Hogsmeade rumbled the ground and the trees, and less than a minute later an entire herd of skeletal, winged horses stomped into the fray. "Get the ginger!" Kettleburn yelled, blasting the meat-smell spell at Tabitha, not sure if they'd comprehend what he intended, but trying it anyway. However, considering the entirety of Hogwarts's grounds was filled with people who were bleeding, dying, or newly deceased, Kettleburn's plan didn't work out exactly as he'd planned. Doris casted as shield charm when she saw Tabitha coming for her, and followed it with a Blasting Hex. She saw the thestrals speed onto the grounds, and her jaw fell open. Momentarily distracted, she watched the skeletal winged beasts in awe. She'd been able to see them since her second year at Hogwarts, after watching her grandfather die. But they still startled her every time she saw them. These animals made it hard for her to focus, she didn't recast or strengthen her shield, and just didn't realize how vulnerable this had made her. Anzhelina couldn't see the winged horses, but she heard them, and of course noticed the disturbance of the earth and trees around them. Thestrals were quite possibly her favourite magical creature, but not being able to see where they were in such a precarious situation frightened her. She didn't want to be attacked by one. Her eyes could barely keep up with Tabitha's rapid movements, so she doubled back even further, waiting until when she would be needed. Tabitha was knocked off her feet from the blasting spell, but she was not giving long to get back up to her feet -- as the werewolf sat up, something heavy crushed against against her knee, and she shrieked in pain, clutching at her leg. Was this some sort of spell? She hadn't seen any other lights from their wands. There was a strange stench in the air behind the smell of meat, like death was lingering in the air, but Tabitha could not see where it was coming from. The heavy hooves of thestrals trampled over her and she was screaming incoherently, claws lashing out (and she could feel them catch against something, but still she could not see). Sharp teeth bit at her flesh and she snarled furiously at her invisible enemies, unable to protect herself from something she couldn't see -- but the thestrals seemed to think that this meal was not worth the effort, moving away from her to find easier prey. The pain stopped, but Tabitha did not move again; he breath coming in shallow gasps, her bones broken in several areas of her body and covered in blood, and it was only seconds later before she slipped into unconsciousness. Kettleburn hadn't considered the fact that not everyone on the battlefield there that afternoon had witnessed someone's death, leaving them unable to see the thestrals that were now spreading over the battlefield. Some people were probably going to be getting trampled by invisible, carnivorous horses. Oops. "Let's head out, Ms. Crockford!" Kettleburn called to the older of the curly-haired blonde women upon observing the werewolf's fall as the thestrals moved on to find other un-lycanthropic prey. "I believe our work here is done." Kettleburn and Crockford left the scene, and Anzhelina took that opportunity to run across the field to where Tabitha lay motionless. She knelt beside her, brushing her hair out her face. She did what she could to heal Tabitha's wounds, but Tabitha needed to be moved elsewhere and given proper care. She hoped the thestrals wouldn't turn back around, and felt a little bad for those who would end up being trampled. 2) Marius & Amycus vs Elle & Gina The slight break in fighting had been exactly what Gina needed. The Death Eaters were losing their nerve, the venom from the snake Malfoy had attacked her with had been stopped before it had spread, and it seemed for the first time in nearly two years that they had a chance to win this. The fighting was far from over, though, and as Slughorn fell after a flash of Bellatrix's bloodthirsty brashness. Bombs were being pelted over the wall, streaks of light were speeding through the air, and Gina went charging back out onto the battlefield, ready to do some damage. Her two months in the rehabilitation centre had been two months too long, and she had some wasted time to make up for. And that's when she spotted Amycus, who was supposed to be on their side. He still had been on their side (or at least, pretending to be) when Gina had been captured, and it hadn't been until she'd been rescued that Kingsley had told her his theory that it had been because of him she'd been caught out putting up posters at all. "YOU," Gina practically growled as she sped forward, slicing her wand through the air as she cast a Glacius spell at Amycus's feet to try and freeze him to that spot until she was close enough to deal with him personally. As he came to a slippery and complete stop, Amycus realized that he was getting really tired of being targeted by what seemed to be all of Albion's rabid dogs. Gina he recognized as instantly as he did the spell she'd used, and as he set about breaking the spell that held him frozen fast, he snapped out a, "Y'know, I'm starting to take this PERSONAL-like." Marius hadn't been far from Amycus when the spell hit and though he'd been heading in the opposite direction he came to a halt and cast a blasting spell at the ginger going after him. He followed it with a Protego to protect himself. "You are popular," Marius called to Amycus, as he neared his side, figuring this was as good a fight to join as any. "Goody," was the return call. With a finite incantatem, Amycus freed himself and sidestepped the ice-scorched ground, bringing up his own shield charm as he approached Marius. "These Albion idiots, they keep swarming up like cockroaches. And cockroaches need to be stomped out--" And out came a blasting spell to complement the other Death Eaters, swooping toward Gina. "You should, traitor," Gina spat back, blocking Marius's blasting curse with a slash of her wand, only to get smashed in the side by Amycus's. She tumbled backwards, hitting the ground hard, but barely paused before readying her wand again. They wanted to stick together? Gina could help that happen. She swiped her wand at a tree just beyond them both, several vines snaking from the tree to try to coil around Marius and Amycus's legs and drag them together. Elle streamed out of the castle with other fighters just in time to see Gina be thrown by a blasting curse. She'd felt extra protective of the other woman ever since retrieving her from the Rehabilitation Centre, and since she was apparently up against two Death Eaters, Elle decided to even up the fight. It was the vines that jerked him out of the way of the conjunctivitis curse, though Marius didn't have time to be grateful as his hip collided with Amycus's shoulder. He cast a Protego to attempt to protect them from anything else before slicing at the vines with a cutting spell. It didn't work and he nudged Amycus. "Keep them from hexing us and I will get the vines," he said, casting another shield charm before casting a Finite Incantatum at the vines. Still nothing. He tried a fire spell which made several of them shrivel up but they were squeezing him against Amycus more tightly. Finally he cast a spell that worked and they loosened, but they were still twined around his feet. And a good thing they loosened, too, as the strength of their squeeze had gone past making his legs numb and were downright bloody painful -- and so he vented out his discomfort by casting a wild array of blasting spells, Reductos and Confringos ripping their way out of his wand as he kept the two Aurors busy in order to buy Marius the time necessary to do away with their viney bonds. "BACK FOR MORE, ELLE?" he yelled, the red light of a stunner directed her away as he then glanced across at Marius. "I fucking hate plants," came the mutter as he pointed his wand down and aimed a Sectumsempra at one particularly thick rope of vines. "Oh, sorry there Elle; had you called dibs on this one?" Gina asked her fellow Auror with a slight smile, wondering if Elle had already gotten a few shots in at Carrow while she and Kate had been distracted by Malfoy and Skeeter's obnoxious commentary. Her amusement was short-lived; one of Amycus's blasting curses caught Gina off guard, knocking her backwards into the air and crashing down hard onto the ground a few feet back. Not wanting to wait around for the two Death Eaters to hit her while she was down, Gina didn't bother getting up before sending a jellyfingers jinx at Lestrange, a Confundo at Amycus, and another Incarcerous at them both -- while they weren't anywhere near the most offensive spells she had ever used, it would keep them right where she and Elle wanted them if the spells hit. Elle nearly snorted at Gina's comment, "You could say that." It was a strange dichotomy of feelings that bubbled inside of her: hatred and anger at the two Death Eaters opposite of them, exhilaration as the adrenaline pumped through her veins, and then most surprisingly, hope. She had hope for the outcome of this battle, and fighting alongside one of her colleagues that they thought they had lost only boosted the feeling. For all that the Aurors' strategy was admirable, Amycus was in no mind to keep dancing away from their relatively paltry attacks. The shield charm that Marius had cast managed to swallow up the spells Gina hurled at them, but by the time Elle began, the charm faltered, and the first hex she aimed at him ate its way through -- and continued eating until the last three fingers of his left hand were sliced through the middle. An incensed hiss (and it was more of anger than pain at this point in the battle) whistled through his teeth -- followed by a growl as her incarcerous knocked him to the ground. Die, die, just DIE, came the recurring thought as he twisted on the dirt, shoving burnt vines out of the way as he put his wand to stopping the magical restraints from winding their way around his wrists. Then, as soon as he had enough arm movement, cast an Avada Kedavra at Elle, attention already returning to that of his bound feet as the green split from his wand. "ELLE, DROP!" Gina shrieked at her fellow Auror, eyes going wide the moment she recognized the noxious green hue begin to resonate from the tip of Amycus's wand. Without a second more's hesitation she yelled out "PROTEGO HORRIBILIS!", concentrating the most powerful shield charm she could at Elle, not sure if the spell could actually deflect the killing curse but hoping that if she couldn't get out of the way in time that it would. It wasn't exactly a defensive tactic that one could practice. Elle hit the ground as soon as Gina yelled, her own eyes catching the green light as it streamed by, through Gina's shield, and right where she had been standing. "Thanks!" she shouted, barely giving Gina a glance, her eyes focused completely on Amycus. She wasn't going to mess around with him anymore. He'd had a taste of her fists, and now he was going to get a taste of her magical ability. "I think what she meant was DROP DEAD," he wheezed as he attempted to push himself up again, staggering to his feet. "And eat dirt. ANGOR." His favorite curse, thus far. Finally free of the vines Marius was hit with an expelliarmus in the process of dodging the other hexes the girls were throwing. The force of it parted him from his wand and through him back into the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin traps had been set to explode if anyone got in their vicinity, and that had all been under the assumption that a Death Eater might wander by them. When thrown into the center of the patch, touching at least four pumpkins at once, the force of the explosion heaving him forward across the ground and shredding his knee in the process. He slammed against a large rock at the edge of the pumpkin patch. "Amycus! My wand!" he shouted, dizzy from the pain but knowing without his wand he was a dead man. "That is NOT what I meant," Gina snapped back, shooting a Glacius at Amycus's head, quite literally attempting to give the traitor brain freeze (if there was even a brain in that rock of his to be frozen). Pumpkins exploded around Marius wildly, or maybe that was just fireworks behind his eyes from having his head collide with so many firm objects. Finally it stopped and he was dropped to the ground. He wasn't fantastic at wandless accios but his wand had blessedly been deflected not far from him when Elle's attempt at getting it had failed. Nothing. It didn't budge, but as Amycus accio'd the woman and the red-haired woman was distracted he managed to achingly dive for it, attempting to ignore the blinding pain in his leg. "Diffindo!" It was a slicing hex aimed at Gina's mid-section. In so much pain he was forced to use simpler spells that he had perfected in school. If it could cut a rope in half it ought to be able to do the same to a person. Gina's focus on Lestrange had been destroyed in an instant when Elle had gone flying through the air and crashing towards Amycus. The fuck? Who accioed a person? She froze for a moment, not sure how in Merlin's name to hit Carrow without also potentially hurting Elle in the process. Hating herself a little bit for how amateur it felt, a Rictumsempra spell cracked from Gina's wand in Amycus's direction (because even if it hit Elle instead of him, perhaps her flailing would knock Carrow over) just as Marius's slicing spell slashed against Gina's stomach. It wasn't enough to cut her in half, thank Merlin, but it certainly felt like it was about to as she toppled to the ground, hands flying to her middle as her shock outweighed logic when it came to quelling the bleeding. Lucky for Elle, if you could call it that, when she went flying through the air at Amycus she was already without air in her lungs, so no more air could escape as she pummeled into him and they went toppling to the ground. Something crunched in her already weak knee from multiple dislocations and for a flash of a moment, she saw nothing but stars. He groaned, the sound made wet and slick from the blood that now coated his throat. A cough and a spit cleared some of it, but still he bled, from his nose and his ears and his mouth, and as he dragged himself onto his knees, he sure that the sight in one eye was uncomfortably blurred. Clawing his fingers -- all two intact ones on his wounded hand -- into the dirt for balance, his other hand grasping his wand, he looked around wildly for Elle. And spotted her, trying to heal her bitch of a co-worker. He crawled, as soundlessly as possible. "Elle," he croaked -- and then nigh on tackled her, the tip of his wand glowing with unnatural heat as he attempted to drive it like a knife into the flesh of her shoulder. Marius was relieved to see his spell hit and that bitch keel over, spilling blood on the ground. He was too slow from his injuries to dodge the Incarcerous and ropes began to climb his body as a great thundering cloud seemed to rumble above them. His heart stopped. What the fuck were these English idiots thinking? As the herd of thestrals descended on them, Marius only had one additional thought. Merde. Elle's healing spell had at least stopped the bleeding, but Gina's stomach still quite literally felt like it was killing her. She'd need to get back to the healer soon, because the last thing she wanted was to drop dead of internal injuries in the middle of the battlefield. As soon as she'd hobbled up to her feet again, though, Gina found herself hitting the ground again, not in pain but to duck and cover in complete and total terror of getting trampled by the freakish assault of skeletal horse things that had come stampeding in their direction. "WHAT THE FUCK?" she yelled what likely all of them were thinking. Elle wasn't prepared for Amycus' tackle and his wand dug into the shoulder that had once been graced with the teeth of Aaron Pryce. She screamed and drew back her other arm to punch him across the face where her blasting spell had hit earlier. She drew up a knee to get him in the privates again and was about to cast something amid the blinding pain when suddenly there was the sound of thundering hooves, leathery wings, and grunts of something that was not human. Somehow he'd landed on the ground again, but this time, Amycus was in no hurry to leap back up to his feet again. For one long, very long moment, he could only stare, as wide-eyed with horror as the other three -- and then he, with a wild burst of laughter, gestured wildly at the Aurors. "EAT THEM," he yelled, now using his wand to point at Elle -- and releasing the brother of Marius' diffindo. If memory served, these things liked fresh meat. Marius was stuck fast in place but the exploding pumpkins seemed to deter the thestrals from charging directly at him. Seeing what Amycus had done to Elle in an attempt to entice the creatures into eating her, he aimed another diffindo at Gina this time at her legs. "Yes! EAT HER!" he called to the Thestrals, wondering if Amycus knew something he did not, and that the Thestrals could be easily convinced to turn on blood. Oh fuck that. Gina was not about to let herself and Elle get turned into Thestral Food by Carrow and Lestrange. Turning their own spells back on them, Gina cried out one "Diffindo!" each at the death eaters, then twisted her attention back to Amycus. "THEY'VE GOT MORE MEAT ON THEM!" she yelled, casting a levicorpus at Carrow in attempts to throw him upside down, strung up in the air like meat waiting to be tended in a butcher shop, or like some of the lambs Amycus had been so fond of silencing back in their days at Gairloch. You are what you eat.. With one yelp chasing another, Amycus was ripped into the air. "Fucking -- SECTUMSEMPRA," he yelled, twisting against the spell, ignoring the newly formed gash on his arm. "CUT THEM, MARIUS," he continued, all but screaming by this point. "Or kill them!" Clearly not going the 'silent' way, then. "SECTUMSEMPRA! DIFFINDO! SECTUMSEMPRA!" Marius was casting the spells like a man possessed. Or, more accurately, a man who didn't want to be eaten alive by thestrals. So he would cut those bitches with every spell he knew, and as the diffindo Gina sent at him sliced his thigh wide open he dropped to a knee. "Liberacorpus!" he cast at Amycus, hoping to loosen his friend so that he would stop looking like a particularly juicy worm, dangling on a hook. And with a thump, Amycus landed (once again!) on the ground. "Merci!" he croaked -- the sum total of his knowledge of French -- a shield charm flickering, if reluctantly, into place as he staggered up to his feet. A series of spells that would cut and tear and slash jumped out from his wand, joining Marius' attack as he attempted to sidle around the thestrals. "Protego Horribilis!" Elle cried as slashing spells came flying at her. They exploded on the charm like fireworks, though it was taking a lot of her energy to maintain it. The thestrals had to be annoyed with them, the smell of blood permeating the air, but flashes of light flying through the air like lightening. "Diffindo! Reducto! Diffindo! Elle starting casting her own set of spells at Marius and Amycus, but with her focus elsewhere her shield faltered and two of those nasty spells hit her, one across her thigh, the other hitting her smack across the chest. The major problem here seemed to be Amycus and Marius helping each other out. (Aside from, you know, the meat-eating thestrals threatening to dine and dash). Following up on invisi-Elle's lead, she cast a levicorpus at Lestrange this time to string him up in the air. If anything, it would leave Amycus open for the Thestrals to attack because the whiny little Frenchman would be preoccupied with attempting to save himself. The levicorpus jerked Marius off the ground like a ragdoll, but spared him the wrath of Elle's spells. Not that he needed any additional cutting since his knee was all but gone leaving a gaping, bloody hole at the front of his leg. A thestral was charging straight for Amycus and Marius tried his best to level his wand, dangling upside down. "Avada Kedavra" The thestral dropped dead and Marius was amazed. He hadn't actually expected it to work. Unfortunately the death of one of their own seemed to incense the herd and what had been threatening a few seconds before now seemed menacing. The thestrals snorted and stomped their feet, wildly eyeing the four humans before them "Drop them!" Marius shouted, as much to the girls as to Amycus. This battle would be pointless to continue if all four of them ended up as thestral breakfast. Considering the collective wrath of the herd, Marius was probably safer where he was, dangling mid-air as the skeletal beasts started a wild dash at the three grounded humans. Amycus didn't need further urging from Marius: a slice of green light ripped from his wand and sped toward the thestral pawing furiously at the ground. He prayed that the curse would land, that the thing wouldn't take to flight -- and a pleased whoop somehow emerged from his throat as he followed up the Avada Kedavra with a second one, aimed at Gina, before throwing what he could manage of a shield charm on Marius. "GINA! DOWN!" Elle's disillusionment charm started to fade and she cast a tripping jinx at her friend and colleague to get her away from the flash of green headed her way. Turning her wand on Marius, from whom she was not about to take orders, especially to kill creatures so Marius and Amycus could try and kill them. She cast Confundus at Amycus' back and another slicing spell at Marius. It felt weak and rather useless, and then she pulled out the spell she'd used on Iago. Yes, it was Dark, but desperate times called for desperate measures. The Angor spell hit Amycus's shield charm, dissolving it but giving Marius time to cast the countercurse to the levicorpus and drop himself on the ground in a bloody pile. He was not going to be able to walk away from this-- the damage to his knee was far too great, and now his other leg seemed broken as well. The pain was immense and unable to focus on any offensive spells he cast "PROTEGO HORRIBILIS!" between himself and Amycus and the flash of green light. -- and by reflex alone, even as the spell bloomed into place, Amycus grabbed Marius' arm and shoved him bodily to the side, following him just as the green smeared into the shield and ate it whole. "We're in serious fucking merde, my bleeding friend," he grunted, pushing himself up onto his elbows and dissuading a charging thestral by throwing a blasting curse in its face. "They just won't d--" And then he heard it. Another call to retreat. Beneath all the wounds and blood, his expression was one of disbelief and black humor. "Let's, Marius," he muttered, grabbing his arm again and dragging him to his feet. "Yeah! Yeah you'd better run away you stupid.. STUPIDS," Gina limped after them once she'd finally managed to drag herself up to her feet, not caring about how weak her insults (or the barely visible flash of a blasting curse that shot exhaustedly from her wand in the Death Eaters' direction, disappearing before it even came close to hitting. With Amycus and Marius making their exit, though, the thestrals' snack was depleting rapidly, leaving them with only Gina and Elle to munch on. "Right. Let's get to triage before we both end up lunch." Elle went to take off sprinting, but her knee wouldn't let her. She limped over to Gina, using revulsion spells against the thestrals that now looked at her like their next meal. She grabbed Gina's arm and stumbled and limped toward triage, rather sure that her knee was going to be fucked up indefinitely, triage or no.
