Who's the Daddy? Lucius is the Daddy! (ex_ofbadfait221) wrote in blurred_lines, @ 2009-06-30 23:33:00 |

Lucius had not been having much luck with sourcing a location for the new school. Wherever there was a large area of rural land; Cornwall, Kent, the peak district, Muggles seemed to have found a use for it. Farms, tourist attractions, those stupid concrete things that their machines whizzed around on. Under a Disillusionment charm, Lucius had spent most of his dusks and dawns visiting an area that looked blank on a map, usually returning disheartened. Hogwarts had certainly had a unique location. The forbidden forest had gathered enough legends around it that Muggles stayed away, even without the Muggle-repelling charms. Then again, Hogwarts had been built a thousand years ago, before Muggles populated every spare field going. It wasn't until Lucius started looking offshore that he started to see opportunities present themselves. Standing resolutely on the western coast of Scotland, again disheartened by the rocky terrain, unsuitable for building, he had a sudden flash of inspiration. Was that an island? The next day he mounted a broom for the first time in ages, determined for an aerial view. He knew there were islands off the coast of Scotland, but quite how many, he hadn't realised. Unfolding before him were numerous islands, jagged coastlines and beaches, settlements and buildings, more sheep than he'd ever seen before in his life... The wind pulled at his hair as he flew, a chilly air that seemed to be absent from the mainland. A few pulled strings later, and he had information on all of the islands, including their approximate Muggle population and wizard population. For several hours he poured over the information looking for a suitable location. Large enough for a school and grounds with extra space for sports pitches and for business owners to set up shops. And then he found it. Taransay. 5.7 square miles, uninhabited since 1974, and very close to the mainland. A tourist attraction, to a degree, but that could be fixed. Well, he felt like he had done an excellent days work. All that remained was to set the wheels in motion. And perhaps seek some approval first. |
