It was dark out, an actual dark and not the fake-dark that happened just after twilight when all the porch lights were still on the and cars turned down the street every few minutes. People were heading to bed, ending their weekend and getting ready to go back to work and to school the next day. Peggy O'Nell's night, however, was just beginning. The Dark Lord had given them this town as a gift for being so patient, and Peggy wasn't going to pass up the chance for fresh meat - not after going over a month having to eat dead, cold disgusting mean from an animal. She was estatic, and excited more that they did not have to worry about being too discreet - if they were recieving an entire village, this certainly was not meant to be hidden. Much of the Dark Army seemed to be heading for houses, but Peggy hated the breaking and entering aspect; she wasn't strong nor spry, and so unless a door was unlocked she would have to ring a doorbell. Peggy headed toward the row of houses ahead of her and -- she couldn't believe her luck! As she turned a corner she saw a plump little boy - muggle, she could tell by his clothing- just walking down the street by himself. "You there, boy," she croaked out at him. "Shouldn't be out this late, you hear me? Bad things happen to little boys who are out alone after dark." The boy stopped, looking around nervously. "There there, dear," Peggy went on. "I'll walk you the rest of the way if you'd like." The boy nodded, looking a bit less nervous. She started across the street and began to hum a soft tune, taking the child's hand when she grew close enough. Her hum grew into a song and the boy stared at her, transfixed. His eyes didn't leave her even as she led him into the alleyway and out of the open lights. While the others would be leaving their victims in their homes, Peggy would make things a bit more visible: she'd leave hers in the streets. |
