It was an impossibility for the inner circle to carry out such tasks, even should they be done correctly - status, propriety, and position did not allow it, and though Rodolphus was not afraid to dirty his hands, he was not stupid enough to implicate himself when another, with less at risk and more to learn, could do it instead.
