The Ballroom - 10.45pm
Regulus stood to the side, aloof as people moved about the dance floor. He had mingled a bit (especially for the sake of his dear cousin Cissa who had put a great deal of effort into the ball's organization), but without his friends in his immediate sight, he preferred to linger on the side. He did not mind the balls, so much, as the opportunity to be in the society of his fellow Purebloods and other like-minded individuals -- that was never an even to be overlooked.
He was not particularly fond of dancing, though years of practice and instruction left him quite competent -- and without a doubt, he would be spending bits of the evening with the various young, unattatched Pureblood girls, as the time would soon come to snag one before someone else married her. He found he had no real preference amongst them, but there were degrees of wealth of prominence that were to be taken into account, so it would be no good to be left with someone who might be considered a mediocre bride in comparison. Some were more pleasant, some were more cold, but he would rather just let his parents make some sort of decision for him, rather than risking attachment for any one girl and finding that she was Not the Plan. In reality, he did not feel that much interest in any of them, but it wasn't really a matter of interest in the first place.
Picking up a beverage from the refreshments table, he took a slow sip and grazed his eyes along the length of the room.
