RP Thread: Andromeda & Ted Tonks Who: Andromeda and Ted Tonks Where: their home in St. Albans, England When: late evening, February 3, 1979 Summary: Andromeda waits for Ted to return home from Hogsmeade, terrified as to what this might mean for her family. Rating: PG.
The kitchen was a mess. Andromeda had never quite mastered the art of cleaning up the dishes immediately after a chore was done; besides that, she'd already scrubbed part of the floor from where Nymphadora had been "helping" her. Waiting out on the counter was a currant pie, a peach pie, and... well, Andromeda wasn't certain what that last thing was; it had been intended to be an apple pie but something had gone terribly, terribly wrong. Sadly the results of her attempts at cooking were often surprises in and out of themselves, but Andromeda supposed that the important thing was that she tried, and left it at that.
Truthfully, Andromeda really only applied herself to cooking when she was worried, and at present, she was wound so tightly that Nymphadora had complained that her "hugging hurt". Ted had gone to Hogsmeade as soon as he had heard the news; Andromeda hadn't liked letting him go by himself but someone needed to stay with their daughter. Ted usually went to these disasters to check on the animals and offer care to whoever might need it - a worthy cause, to be sure, but it terrified Andromeda.
Hence, pies. Lots of them. Nymphadora was in bed by now, and so Andromeda was free to pace in the living room all she desired. Only Ted might have been able to tell how upset she was - her face was as calm as always. But her mouth was set in a tight line, a caged, defensive expression in her eyes. The attack pressed hotly against her mind - Hogsmeade. Peaceful, gentle Hogsmeade. It was a warning, she knew - a warning that very clearly stated "look, we've gotten Hogsmeade. Hogwarts is only a jump away! Maybe next time, yeah?"
She'd never been so grateful that Nymphadora had five more years before she left home in her life.
