"Oh, aren't we sure of ourselves?" Hermione tilted her head to look at him as Ron professed he could still beat her, amused.
This almost felt comfortable, and that had seemingly been a long time coming. Hermione didn't know what it was, but their conversation lacked the usual stilted awkwardness, and for that she was endlessly grateful. More than anything, she hated things being strange between them.
Slinging her small bag over her shoulder as they headed to the lifts, she smiled at Ron as he held the door, stepping inside. "I can't say I'm surprised there was quite a bit left over from Sunday night, your mum never under does anything, does she?" Pausing she considered his comment about not going home first. "I didn't think of that. Lucky you stopped by then, who knows what I would have gone home to." Hermione shook her head, but there was a smile on her face. She hoped Ginny and Harry were having a good time, they deserved it after what had been going on lately.
As the lift reached the main floor of the Ministry, she stepped out and glanced sideways, making sure Ron was still beside her.
