The morning had started off in the craziest way, and Mandy had found herself in every area of the hospital but her own, and all before noon, and by the time she returned to her patients, she was ready for a break. She slid gratefully behind the desk, sinking into the chair's shabby softness, and pulled the tab off her coffee cup.
And saw a flower. Mandy smiled, reaching for it, brushing her nose with its silky yellow tufts as she sniffed.
Her smile widened a bit as she read the note. Just a hello. He was thinking of her. A chuckle. Smashing in green...
Mandy shook her head and folded the note, tucking it under her robes and into her trouser pocket. She sniffed at the flower once more, then charmed it to the front of her robes like a corsage. She could see cheery yellow out of the corner of her eye. Just what a day like today needed. A spot of sunshine.
