Verity looked blankly at the wine bottle. Had they already drunk the whole thing? She'd nearly finished what was in her glass. "Of course, if we're that thirsty. No way we should let ourselves stay parched." She took an enormous bite to last until she got back, then went for the wine and opened it.
She returned and filled their glasses, wondering if the mix of old and new in hers would be horrible, then sipped and found it rather nice.
She slid back into her chair, scraping a layer onto her fork and licking it off, then looked at him, suddenly struck by something he'd said. "Hang on. Did you say birthday cheesecake?"
