Eli laughed again. Verity was amusing, and she talked without breaks in her sentences, like she had endless amounts of breath reserved just for talking.
He thanked her for the sandwich and sat down after she'd picked a chair and sat herself. "There's a fantastic Chinese place just around the corner from my flat. I love the food there. I probably order out at least half the days in the week. I don't always order from there, but it's a good place to eat and I have leftovers for a few days.
"When I worked at Pendragon's and was finishing my mastery, I couldn't exactly spend a lot of money on food. Most of my pay went toward my studies and my flat, so I didn't exactly spend a lot of time cooking unless it was in order to make something that would last for days. I can cook exactly five dishes, and toasted cheese sandwiches is one of them." He bit into his sandwich and fanned the air in front of his lips as he mumbled, "Hot."
He grabbed for his wine glass before he said, "No, my tiny flat is in London. Muggle London actually. It makes it much simpler for my family to visit me."
