"Sure, because it's food I didn't cook either," she said with a smile. "Rachel's much better at it than I am." She nodded, then added, "You're welcome to. Sincerely." And that was all. She wouldn't shove.
"Well, I did have vanilla in the hospital cafe yesterday. They looked at me like I was mad, though, for asking for it." She shrugged. "I might veer one way or the other next time, but don't count on it."
He smiled and she couldn't help returning it. He really did have a nice smile, and his words made her smile a bit wider. "I'm glad too, Dean. "I'm not very good at it myself. I try to hang around people who are easy to talk to. And you are."
