Mandy nodded as Neville spoke, squeezing his hand gratefully. It didn't bother her as much as it had that night; she hated feeling so out of control, but still... "We tried," she said with another soft nod.
"It wasn't the first emergency I'd dealt with," she said thoughtfully. "But it was the most dramatic. Just so much at once. But we got through it, and then I sort of fell apart, but Neville was great..." She gave his hand another squeeze, and shot him a grateful smile.
"I think I'd like to do something ordinary, someday. Family healing. Taking care of generally healthy people and watching families grow up, that sort of thing. Not very exciting, but..." She shrugged one shoulder. "I could make a difference there."
