Hestia shook her head, "You weren't prying." She smiled, "I just don't want to bring down the mood when that's what I'm trying to avoid in the first place." Despite what a private person Hestia was with her emotions (and only her emotions, really) it hadn't bothered her when Peter had asked. He felt like a good friend. Hestia ordered her food before turning back to hear how he was doing.
"Honesty is refreshing," she said with a broader smile this time. "And I know what you mean, about Mandy." That's what had gotten to her during the war. The people dying, the people losing their loved ones... They were all far too young. Tonks and Remus had just started their life as a family when they were killed. Fred Weasley... Now Neville and Mandy both survive the war and find love, only for him to be cruelly stripped away. The sadness was certainly not lost on her. "Life isn't fair," she repeated. Hestia looked up, "Working extra shifts to cover for others has certainly helped keep me distracted." She forced another smile.
