Percival had heard that the Vinguri had been on an expedition to Whitestone - not that it had been called by that name in far too long. He had not been well pleased with Gogmawth's little game, and he had made his displeasure very clear to self-proclaimed Lord of Evil. His pet cleric would need some time to recuperate from her latest vision. How terribly unfortunate. Maybe with some rest, her visions would become more productive and less petty. He wondered if maybe he should have made his point more plain and ripped the throat from Gogmawth's brat, but that seemed excessive. He was not a cruel creature. Not really. He just had no patience for these sorts of power plays. If he wanted power, he would have it. And no one would be able to stop him. Zaul'Nazh was intelligent enough, for all his faults, to know that. If Percival had wished to tear him down, it would have been all too easy.
But he didn't want that. He didn't want power or glory or anything quite so shallow. He only wanted to watch the world of men, the world that had so failed him, burn to ash. He was a creature of simple needs, when it came down to it. All he wanted was the end of everything. Nothing more or less.
Though there was a certain pleasure in the Vinguri king jumping at his presence. It sparked a cracked grin that no one else would see. His emotions, such as they were, weren't for anyone else.
"Your intel was useless," Percival said. "You were not. It is hardly your fault that Gogmawth's visions have shown us nothing worthwhile. Zaul'Nazh is growing weary of the cleric. He only keeps her because it amuses him that she has turned her back so fully on the light. Were it not for that, he'd have rid himself of her long ago."
He ignored the request, focusing instead on the larger issues. "I have heard no news of the crown," he said. "It is well hidden, even from my eyes and ears. That you have not found it is no mark against your abilities. You have done much for Zaul'Nazh. Do not focus on the failures that are not solely your own. If he had any idea where the crown was, I have every faith you would return with it."
He would need to talk to Zaul'Nazh later, and remind him how valuable Leiland was. And that he should not squander it.
