Percival sighed. This was the part where things became complicated. Because he was offering something, yes, but not unselfishly. And it was entirely possible Leiland would want nothing to do with his offer once he knew the finer details. After all, why would anyone want to be bound to him, even for the sake of untethering from Zaul'Nazh. He was well aware of what he was. He was a monster. He was cruel and vengeful and terrible. Nobody could want that.
"You wouldn't be unbound," he said. "Not entirely. You're a pactwraith, Leiland. You need a pact. Otherwise..." He trailed off, hardly needing to explain. "You simply wouldn't be bound to Zaul'Nazh any more. You would be bound to me. If you wanted, that is. You obviously don't have to. I mean...I know it's hardly better but...I just thought that you should have a choice in it." The rest of it confused him though.
"Leiland...they aren't bound to Zaul'Nazh," he said. "They're bound to you. You're the king of the Vinguri. That is not simply a title. It is what you are. You are above them by your vary nature. They could not exist without you. Changing your nature will not harm theirs. You did know that, right? He told you that?" He could feel himself getting angrier with Zaul'Nazh as he realized that he probably hadn't. That he'd intentionally held Leiland back as a means of controlling him.
