As Leiland watched the shadows retreat, he couldn't help but be more than a little... surprised at the form that was taken in front of him. Glancing back up at the portrait and then back down at Percival, the confusion seemed to grow to overlap the surprise. After all, the figure that seemed to match in the image above seemed to be the complete opposite of the man before him, the one that he was having a very hard time resisting the urge to prostrate himself in front of just due to the sheer amount of authority and power radiating off of him at the moment. Leiland wasn't going to lose his dignity, though. He could keep it together.
Mostly.
The last thing he'd expected was for their shadow monster spymaster to be hot.
"It seems we both came to the darkness in two very different ways," Leiland said, a certain appreciation of irony in his tone. Percival had fought a demon lord for his family. Leiland had joined one in order to kill his family. They always did say opposites attract. "With any luck, the Undying King will not be able to claim a foothold in this realm. Our Lord won't allow such blatant competition, I'm sure," He said, pausing a moment as he allowed his gaze to shift back up to the portrait once more. "I can only assume you were hardly prepared for the burden that was leveled on you. But you seem to have managed."
