Leiland should have been scandalized, but such words of sedition were pretty well commonplace with Percival. He didn't need to worry about his life essence being stripped away or being fed to one of Sokhbarr's many pets. He had the free reign to criticize and doomsay as much as he liked without any sort of serious consequences. But the problem was, even if Leiland might had partially agreed that Zaul'Nazh would be at fault if they weren't able to get ahead of the Heroes of Light in order to recover the crown before it was destroyed, he could hardly say that.
Still, the lack of any sort of direct protest from him would likely say enough for Percival.
"This infighting doesn't serve any of our needs," Leiland said, a heavy sigh of frustration accompanying the words. "No more than our Lord's current preoccupation does. We all need to be working to achieve the same ends, and yet..."
And yet, it often felt like they were the only ones ever trying to secure the most vital relic in their ultimate victory. And it really was horribly frustrating when you felt like the only one in the group project doing any of the work.
"Any of the Vinguri would follow any other," Leiland said, quietly waving off Percival's comments. "Any of our ranks could just as easily step into my place and do as well in the position. And it's possibility I've been more than preparing myself for with my current repeated failures. Our Lord will only be patient for so long before my inadequacies because unacceptable."
