Diana grimaced slightly at Aberforth's harsh tone and response. "All right, then, what would be the normal procedure -- and why am I getting through without it? I mean, you obviously don't trust me -- so why...?"
She trailed off, leaving the already-spoken question to be answered-- but there was James to answer now, as well. "Sweetie, I do think he is, in fact! I mean, he pays his share of the rent in silver and gold, not Muggle notes that I have to change -- and honestly, what other Halfblood even makes enough to have gold? I mean... if I turn more than one trick for the same person -- like a party that one of them's paying for himself -- then and only then do even I see any gold in my purse! I mean, I suppose he could be a drug dealer, but you'd think he'd have offered me a deal on my 'weed by now, if that were the case...!"
She smiled wryly at James again, as he mentioned her skills at Potions; it was true enough that she did brew many different complex potions to ward off things such as pregnancy and STIs, but still... what he said amused her enough to smile again, if only slightly! "Well, sweetie, I'm good enough with potions to remember that Polyjuice needs to simmer for a month! I imagine -- Mr Crawford, here, doesn't want to wait that long for us to work! That is to say – you DO want both of us working, right, sir?" It was a bold assumption to make, considering how she had guessed just a moment ago that he didn't like or trust her -- but even so, she went on with the conversation:
"Yes, James is brilliant with Transfiguring his appearance! I mean, if he had been in disguise the day I first met him up again, I wouldn't have even recognised him! I mean, not that he would have been able to, without a wand! But now..." She smiled openly, for perhaps the first time, at Aberforth. "Thank you for this, sir, really!"
