Abe had been at the pub for the better part of an hour. Long enough to start to blend in and be uninteresting to the inhabitants but not long enough to be outstaying his welcome. He was to all intents and purposes on his third beer but the bulk of the previous two and had been discreetly vanished as he pretended to drink - an old trick he'd picked up years ago. Decades ago actually. He'd have simply nursed a single beer but publicans tended to get cranky at that, as he knew from personal experience and cranky publicans noticed details.
He saw James Potter when he walked in the door. The man's hair was distinctive especially when combined with the glasses. He made a mental note to dip into his store of disguises and see what James might be able to use. His work would require moving into the wizarding world from time to time and James certainly couldn't do that right now. He noted the girl too. He had a suspicion he knew who she was based on the two journal conversations he'd had. Well, maybe he'd have to revise his opinion of her if she was willing to come here and take the first step to a more perilous freedom. She'd have to lose the dramatic nature if she was going to truly hide though or anyone would be able to pick her out of a crowd.
Abe had chosen to sit in a booth at the side of the pub, out of direct eyeline of the bar but within sight of the door. He waited until he caught James' eye and let his own blue eyes, so like his brother's, warm up with wry amusement. He knew he must look far different from when they'd last seen him. His hair was cropped short and the beard was long gone. He was wearing a rather elegant tailored suit and his overcoat and hat rested on the seat beside him. He smiled slightly and then gestured discreetly for them to join him.
