Everything considered things could be a lot worse, Eileen Snape mused to herself. She walked briskly through a busy street in west London, while trying to sort out her thoughts. She'd managed to finally get away from that drunken muggle, get herself a new wand, and found a lavish place to live. Her ego found it difficult to swallow that it had taken her son to get her here. It was all infuriating, really. A thought that reflected in look that had been so sour that several nearby muggles had practically run to get past her. When she noticed this, she made sure to snarl at anyone who was dawdling around and staring . Eileen had loathed begging that boy to take her in, to keep her safe from him . When he'd stopped by that decrepit house on Spinner's End, shortly after the Dark Lord's rise to power, she'd gone back with him.
It didn't do any good to dwell on it, she'd spent twenty one years too long dwelling on losing her real family. Eileen glanced around her to see any signs of non-muggle activity, it'd been so long since she'd been in wizard society the prospect of re-entering it was somewhat daunting. Still. Being surrounded by hapless muggles going about enjoying their lives was sickening. She'd only gone on a walk to escape that hauntingly empty house.
So, Eileen turned around and headed for home, that was thankfully warded from such scum. On her way back the frighteningly clean streets of Brent, she noticed something odd. In one of the small, and clean, alleyways was, well...a wolf. Or at least, at first glance it looked like one. As she got closer to it she realized it was in fact an enormous dog. Being the nosy creatures that they were, the muggles were already staring.
It didn't look like it had an owner either and she knew how muggles treated things that didn't belong. So she crouched down to talk to it, holding out her hand as a peace offering.
"Hey. Dog."
Her voice was rough and scratchy from disuse. With no one but the house elves to keep her company she hadn't spoken much. Also how does one go about communicating with a dog? She despised the weird looks she caught out of the corner of her eye, however she couldn't just leave the dog here.
Eileen reached into her pocket to retrieve some old candy she had on her. She didn't know how it would affect the dog, but a bertie bots was better than nothing. "Come on then. If you want to be fed something tastier you can come with me."
