Selwyn was grateful for the Israeli representative's clear Hebrew, seeing how the language was fairly new to him; he'd begun to study it only a few short years ago, when an old friend had recommended it to him. He nodded in understanding to Representative Ben-Shahar, and answered succinctly, "Unfortunately, the time we spent at war made it difficult to see the tyrant for what he was, in fact! I mean to say, there was a desire to END all our troubles, and so we took the easy way out-- allowing this Crouch fellow to fight fire with fire, so to speak...! It backfired upon us, of course, once the real threat was eliminated, and very soon he and his Aurors became the 'real threat'..." He didn't need to translate the conversation for the British representative; Matthew knew the party line script as well as he did, after all!
He overheard the remark about the PARADE, of course, but he ignored it for now; he considered it rude to eavesdrop on other people's conversations, even ones that were perfectly audible from where he sat; besides which, he didn't want to dignify that with an answer!
