That seemed like a fairly weak excuse to Eoin, what Diana had said, partly because he didn't think there was anything unreasonable about holding the untimely death of one's friends against the government that had made said friends enemies of the state. However, he wasn't about to let on, and said, "Oh, I get what you mean. It's always sad to hear someone's done themselves in."
To her foundling whose name he did not know, Eoin said, "Oh yeah, you're right, there. Probably the most likely thing. Some people just think they've seen too much."
The comment about 'His Judgments' struck him as incredibly odd, and...well, it was probably a cover-up, and a weird one at that. Eoin looked at her oddly to give her some sort of warning that she was traversing into the territory of being completely obvious, but in his present state he probably just looked like he was having a stroke while seeing something very odd. He quickly switched back to exhaustion, about the time she hugged him.
Suddenly he had the terrible feeling Diana was somehow going to discover something about him that was different from being so close to him. He quickly and awkwardly pulled away, saying, "The water's boiling now, even! Yes! Coffee? Long night ahead of you?" Unthinkingly, he slammed his hand down on the kettle, not realizing that the stove was still on and anyone in their right mind would have at least noticed how hot the kettle actually was, or that it wasn't actually boiling. He realized this a few seconds too late and took his hand off of it. "Or it's not," he said.
